They keep adding and upgrading tornados.
A night to remember.
The National Weather Service has, so far, confirmed nine tornadoes to have touched down in North Texas on Sunday including an EF-3 that ripped through North Dallas with maximum wind speeds of 140 mph, an EF-2 that hit the southwestern side of Garland, an EF-1 confirmed Tuesday in Rockwall, an EF-1 confirmed Monday in Rowlett, an EF-1 confirmed Tuesday in Midlothian, an EF-1 confirmed Tuesday in Kaufman County, an EF-0 confirmed Tuesday in Kaufman County, an EF-0 confirmed Tuesday in Ferris and and EF-0 confirmed Monday in Wills Point.

That's a lot of tornadoes.

Another 0.37” ahead of the front today. Meager, but needed. Pattern looks ripe to keep producing too.

Thankfully no one was killed. Those were all night tornadoes, too. Same as the ones up here. Had one fatality in Northwest Arkansas though.

NW flow event for Halloween seems more likely. Snow above 3500ft in North Carolina, to 1500 ft in Maryland. Climatology is a good thing...

Heavy rain on the way this afternoon. 2" expected in areas.

Also, the NWS just corrected the record....Texas had 10 tornados in the Dallas County area.

Currently, the Tx Panhandle is experiencing Thundersnow.

Quite a start for the Fall, much less the Winter.

Waves of rain moving in early this AM as the LLJ arrives. Record PWATs forecasted..in excess of 2” possibly by daybreak with 60kts just off the surface.

A stable boundary layer should prevent those high winds from mixing down, but if any elevated convection associated w/ the squall line can root closer to the surface, isolated severe gusts are possible between 7AM and 11AM.

Very little wind mixed down here, but temps warmed all night to near 70*F by daybreak..approaching 0.8” of new rainfall.

Flash drought is officially over here. Back to a surplus for the year and a wetter than average October has been obtained. :D

Ugly @ DCA right now by late October standards..76/74 just ahead of the cold front.

More tolerable here..68/67 as skies clear with the inception of downsloping.

Haven't seen this pattern since Winter of, 78-79. It started with wild fires. Warm air stayed into late December along East Coast. Then it dropped the hammer.

Very interested in tomorrow night.

Possible high winds and spinups along the QLCS as it passes through, then a brief surge of W/NW winds behind the cold front under sharp CAA/pressure rises, with momentum transfer possibly aided by residual precipitation. Should be a wild ride from 6pm to 3AM.

Rain has started here under the isentropic lift. Falling moderately with calm winds and a temp of 61*F.

We’ve now had over 5” of rain since the 15th, with at least another inch on the way with this event (possibly 2”). Hard to believe we were on the verge of severe drought conditions just 2 weeks ago. Remarkable turnaround.

Not a great night for Trick or treating this year that for sure.with the high winds it can be dangerous for the kids going out in the dark with the costums on with falling limps and or branchs  and things flying around.

One heck of a night. S/SE winds raged, then two lines of storms blew trough with decent lightning, then the pressure surge/cold front came through and dropped the dewpoint from 71 to 31 in a few hours.

Winds around 45-55mph most of the time..so nothing otherworldly but still impressive for so early in the season.

That's remarkable.

Had our first freeze this morning. Low of 30.6*F. Not sure that was cold enough to kill off the skeeters and the rest of the insects, but it’s a start.

Down to 35.6*F as of 11:50pm..might freeze again tonight but it will be close with the front moving through..might mix things out a bit towards dawn.

Some serious "snow porn," last night. I thinking a chance to see a storm. Epic cold nevertheless.

Great snow making from Carolina north. First cold shoot 1-3 natural. With second cold push they should have 30-40 inch base by thanksgiving.

Great pattern with potential storm lurcking.....

Epic cold? Haha, I don’t see that yet. Maybe low 20’s next week? Typical midwinter stuff..cold for Nov but we saw it last year and the year before.

Snow would be nice. There’s a chance at that next week as well.
