Chewbacca Defense
6 hours ago, iFred said: Ownership wanted a new direction and it seems they gave Pete the option to have a graceful exit. There was a sketch rumor that he was going to try for the Chargers, but not much panned out. Ownership noted that there would be a back office role for Pete if he wanted it, but Schneider later said that it was a low, very low, priority. Caught another rumor that he floated the idea of retirement towards the end of the season, but after the last game of the year he decided he wanted to go one more year. Management had already "moved on" based on his plans to retirement. On one hand I kinda call BS to that, they obviously didn't have another coach already lined up. But on the other hand, a mentor told me that if you ever decide to give notice and leave a place, don't let them talk you in to staying. There is a reason you chose to leave, and odds are, you are going to quickly be back looking for another job. Best to just rip the bandaid off. So maybe that's what happened. 1 Quote Britton Rd Bellingham Weather Station: https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KWABELLI103?cm_ven=localwx_pwsdash

hawkstwelve
Watched Macdonald's opening press conference. Definitely got a different vibe from him than Pete's happy-go-lucky, nothing-is-ever-wrong attitude which honestly is kind of welcomed. While Pete's style was seemingly embraced by the players, it got kind of old and stale as a fan, especially the past few years where we have been pretty average and middle of the pack. Very much looking forward to this new era of Seahawks football.

Unfortunately for the Commanders it kind of seems like they went, "Well we lost Johnson and Macdonald so I guess we are stuck with Quinn." Johnson did them very dirty and Macdonald slipped through their fingers at the last minute. What was once viewed as the most favorable HC opening ended up getting the last pick from the litter. Not a lot of happy Commanders fans on various forums and subreddits right now.

fubario
I'm happy you guys didn't get an offensive coach. Particularly, the cat from Detroit. Regardless, congrats, hawk fans on your new coach! Also, Rams hung 31 on his D this year.? So, Im ok with this hire too.

hawkstwelve
1 hour ago, TT-SEA said: I saw this earlier and thought it was odd they would hire a college OC instead of a veteran to pair with a brand new HC but then I saw the Frazier hire as assistant HC and this route makes a little more sense. At least we can lean on Frazier's two decades of experience while we benefit from two fresh, dynamic coaches who both like to bring disguised and deceptive schemes paired with aggressive play-calling. Sounds refreshing. If nothing else, Macdonald/Grubb would be the exact opposite of what we've been lately. I think this next season or two are going to show just how stale and stagnant we became over the past few years. Carroll was great no doubt but he found himself continuously getting stuck in this 'we always play what defense we play and you just have to beat us' routine that just doesn't work against the offensive schemes of today's world. Add to that our own very predictable offense and it's a recipe for a mediocre team. I am excited to see how different a Macdonald/Grubb pairing would be able to make the team from that long-held blueprint, assuming it's true.
