Ahhhh, it feels great to be back home! 100% sunshine with a breeze out of the SSE and temps in the low 70's. I'm swamped with work so I prob won't be posting much. Looking forward to possible storm action mañana. Adios!

God I hate this month, can it be over yet? I don't know how Nebraska manages a heat dome for weeks on end, but it does. We end up being the hottest place in the country for extended amounts of time and it always baffles me. Yuck. If you guys literally one state away in Iowa want to send some of that rain our way, we'll take it :D

Glad you made it back man. Thinking you all may get several tastes of fall way earlier than the past few years. I wish I had temps in the 70s again already.

After I went apartment searching in LNK last week, I flew back to Houston on Sunday. It feels comparatively cool here. Thankfully when I move up to LNK for good in late August that's when temps really start trending downward, so aside from a couple rogue 90s in September, I shouldn't have much more heat to deal with before Fall. An October snowfall would be nice. Even a trace works.

Illinois, you really don't need that rain. Let me take that to NE for you. NE needs the rain. Drought conditions are popping up throughout the state.

Hope your right amigo! The air mass feels so refreshing and I'm enjoying every second of it. AZ was good to me, but man, that heat was getting to me in June and in July, the Monsoon season and the rise in humidity started to become a bit discomforting. Even the locals were starting to complain! That doesn't happen often. I hope the wet pattern continues for them into Aug and fits the great analog years going forward towards Autumn/Winter.

One thing I haven't been used to are the D**n Mosquitoes! Gosh dang it...they are everywhere!

Late Sept/early Oct chill being advertised by the 12z GFS for Monday...ahhhh...

Marshall was at (a truly awesome for July) 68F at 1 pm yesterday, so it looks like the GFS wasn't off it's rocker after all. Nice break from the high dews over the past 1/2 wk  :)

Last night featured a phenomenal lightning show here in my area with no thunder or rain. It was the leading edge of a CF that was bringing in a change of airmass into my region. Great show indeed from mother nature. :D

Went for a nice jog outside and I must say that it feels a tad muggy out there. Just a bit, not a lot. I guess its hard ta hold dry air in place in July, even with the passage of a CF.

When the Northern Great Lakes people say "it's a tad muggy out there" but it's been 80 degree dewpoints and 100 everyday for the past month in the Plains:

  Even I was wondering what portal he'd stepped through because we've had an awesome few days now across SMI, and at the time he posted his comments, Marshall had RH's hovering below 50% with a temp of 72F

My cousin lives there.  He hates this time of year...he told me to come visit sometime at the end of Sept or in Oct.  I don't blame ya if the heat/humidity is unbearable!

Just took the garbage out and it looks like it wants to thunder out there. Looks like a front is coming. Will definitely dries us up after the passage of the weather front and bring excellent weather to all of Michigan. Right now, the weekend looks gorgeous.

Nice lil' soaker over Lincoln. Bet folks are glad they can go without sprinklers for once.

Would sure like to borrow some of those dangerous thunderstorms and have them explode on top of SEMI. That would feel nice. :)

I checked the radar about 30 min or so ago and noticed the line of storms to my west looked strong enough to hold together for NE IL.  Had enough time to spread some commercial grade grass weed/feed.  Hope to get some soaking rains.  Weeds are killer this year IMBY!

Thanks man! I missed your post somehow. Ya, hope it holds as it looks like it should. Doing anything fun this weekend? It's th Chicago Scene Boat Party this weekend. I may check it out at the Play Penn. The forecast is as perfect as it can get to go out on the water/beaches. Upper 70's along the beaches and dews in the 40's!

Absolutely amazing weather on tap.  Think we're going to head up north tomorrow through the weekend - sunny and 80 for days and days.  The Boat Party is always a good time, sometimes a little too much fun ; )   Enjoy!

I just got home. Did a tour from Iowa down thru OKC....San Antonio....Houston...Dallas....Topeka....and back home. It was 100+ everyday plus humidity. Ready for fall!

I figured you were on a long trip.  BTW, did you get hit by those flooding rains last week I think it was???  Going to be a fantastic few days around these parts with a taste of Northwoods air.  Can't wait.

I'm in Houston right now for the Summer and grew up here. This is by far the most pleasant Summer we have had here in my lifetime. Has not even hit or come close to 100 yet and looks to stay that way. Highest we've hit is 97. Yes there's been humidity but it's wetter than normal here so it's a fair tradeoff. Oh, and something more unusual: We're getting a cold front this weekend! Normally cold fronts don't start making it here until September. Won't make it any cooler but at least it'll do something about DPs. Dews in the 50s possibly? Those also normally don't come until late September.

Worked in Ft. Worth from mid-May through the summer of 2010. The day I left (May 10th) it was a cloudless 52 at noon, got down there and it wasn't bad right away, kinda caught the tail-end of spring I guess. But, MET summer of 2010 was DFW's 5th hottest on record with 27 days in August ranging from 100 to 110F actual. Only saving grace was the low-level winds were coming off the dry N. Mexico desert and not the GOMEX so it was a lot less humid than say a Houston summer. I actually got used to it and it was like being on extended vacation. The day it hit 110 though, Whoa! that was a whole nother level of hotness.

It may be, due in part to the sandy soil in SWMI allowing the rain to drain through the top-soil better. I remember a lot of clay in SEMI and it seems the moisture just sat on top

Well it is now late July and here in the Grand Rapids area it is getting (for this area) kind of dry. As only 1.12” has been recorded this month and Since July 13th GRR has only recorded 0.07” of rain. And there has only 3 days with thunderstorms so far, this July.  On the temperature front the month mean of 72.8 (+0.1) almost exactly average. There has only been one day that it has gotten to 90°

There was some discussion as to what I think was if the one side of the state is “drier” than the other side well here is a site that has the Dew Points for the state of Michigan

http://www.usairnet.com/weather/maps/current/michigan/dew-points/
