Thunder98
It's going to be much cold and windier tomorrow. Only 51F in Santa Maria with a slight chance of rain with potential 40 MPH gusts. It will feel a lot like Wyoming for the next several days. Anti Marine Layer
Marine layer is slow to develop this morning but it might still arrive post sunrise and if it doesn't it's pretty sure to come racing in late afternoon before sunset, but by tomorrow morning any inversion should be a thing of the past. We had record heat last fall with the sun at the declination it is at right now, so it seems fitting that we have some record cold as the sun will reach over 45 degrees above the horizon for the first time since last October tommorow. Trees have already been confused by the warm fall and winter so far, with many still having leaves from last year. Hope to get some wind to get rid of these leaves and if the cool weather sticks around it could be a late bloom this spring.

Anti Marine Layer
When all NOAA satellite images fail, there's always Intellicast. http://www.intellicast.com/National/Satellite/Visible.aspx?region=san They're still forecasting mostly sunny with a chance of showers tomorrow morning. I've seen times before where it rained with a clear sky directly overhead, but it was still at least partly cloudy.

Anti Marine Layer
Some random and sparse low clouds are forming, but nothing close to a solid marine layer. Inversion must already be weak.
Anti Marine Layer
Sitting out in the sun, it feels pretty hot, but once that afternoon breeze kicks up the cooler air should be noticeable.
Bonk
Frost/ freeze warnings for a good deal of SoCal starting Tuesday. Anti Marine Layer
Mostly sunny today and completely free of haze and smog, with only random low clouds at times and it got pretty warm for a while, but the wind really picked up and cooled things down in the afternoon. Whatever marine layer develops won't have much of an inversion, if any, to hold it together. Some waterspouts would be nice.
Anti Marine Layer
It was starting to sprinkle outside. Otherwise it looks to be a very chilly day tomorrow by California standards and maybe, just maybe, we can get some measurable rain out of it. Doing errands I was thinking about your post while observing tall sycamore street trees and down along arroyos. A leafless tree growing near fully leaf sycamores but that seems to be normal. Sadly others are dying from beetle infestation. Bauhinia & ornamental pear are in full bloom now. The foothills are still green but the grass will die away early this winter; so it seems. Anti Marine Layer
Fullerton only got down to 52 overnight and Julian down to 32. Sure does not seem cold enough for snow levels at 1500 feet. Also dewpoints have dropped into the teens just recently, which pretty much ends our chances of any significant rain. Anti Marine Layer
All clouds have been pushed well inland with Coachella Valley currently having more clouds than us. The wind is blowing and my neighbor across the street is in his shorts and light sweatshirt washing his car. I don't understand how some people never feel cold. Anti Marine Layer
Mostly sunny with a chance of showers seems to be accurate as there are dark clouds in front of the Santa Ana Mountains, but the rest of the sky is mostly clear. There were no clouds at all this morning, however. I still like this sort of weather more than the June Gloom. Today is cold and windy, but there is sunshine and the air is crisp and clean. On a June Gloom day, it's overcast and depressing and the dampness makes it feel colder than it is, and any walk will leave you soaked in cold sweat. Also inversions ensure bad air quality. Anti Marine Layer
Cold this morning, but at least it's not windy. Yesterday had a high of 61 F at the Fullerton Airport. Bonk
Cold this morning, but at least it's not windy. I would have preferred a little wind with the low temps. Anti Marine Layer
None of the forecast discussions are relating the sudden stratospheric warming event to our cold weather. Anti Marine Layer
Despite the cold weather, this winter continues to be boring in terms of rainfall totals. For that reason, not many people are posting here, while the PNW thread gets 100 or more posts a day. Today's sunset is 5:42 PM, which is a full hour later than the earliest sunset last December 4. On that day the fires started. The sunrise that day was 6:39 AM, while today's sunrise is 6:26 AM. Last time we had a sunrise of 6:26 AM, sunset was at 4:45 PM. Sadly, there's not much more interesting things to talk about.
Guest happ
The position of the trough limits access to Pacific moisture. All these upper level lows drop temps but not water. L:
Dan the Weatherman
The position of the trough limits access to Pacific moisture. All these upper level lows drop temps but not water. L: 42 We need this whole pattern to shift westward to off the coast so we are on the eastern side of the trough as opposed to the western side. Only then will the storms have the over water trajectory that would bring more significant rains to the area.

Anti Marine Layer
We need some rain to move latitudinally southward and longitudinally eastward so that we can get some significant precipitation very soon. Guest happ
Hopefully it will rain this week. The most significant factor has been the cold temps. Strong ridging in February followed this winter's warm pattern but positive departures ended abruptly. Frost was widespread this past week in Socal for the first time this year. Anti Marine Layer
Warmer today with some places possibly reaching 70 F for the first time in a while, but that cool afternoon breeze is kicking up and the warmer weather won't last long. I'm enjoying the warm sunshine for now and hoping we can get some beneficial rain this week rather than just annoyingly cold and windy weather.
