I think the more likely outcome is Trump gets back into power in 2024 and goes full fascist in pursuit of revenge against his political opponents. And there are plenty of right wingers who’d be happy to head up the most important US institutions, and do just that.

The whole thing about the people “rising up” to defend trump is a fairytale fantasy, because nobody likes him, not even his own voters. 😂 But I’m sure if/when he gets off scott free, or even if he doesn’t, he will get more votes than he otherwise would have. The prosecution here is so obviously political, and nobody outside the safe democratic voters are a fan of it.

You're totally wrong because millions, including myself, like him better as time goes by! He's one that has the guts to get something done and not back down. Ron DeSantis now appears to be an establishment Republican Bush fan, and that's one of the reasons his poll numbers dropped and Trump surged ahead recently. I have a friend that once was invited to the White House by Trump and he said he's just a regular, common, friendly person. But most of the fake news mainstream media make him out to be a monster!

I mean, it's not a surprise, given all the (fan-created, not paid for by Trump or his campaign) pro-Trump artwork like the example @Deweydog posted here yesterday (and there's a lot more where that came from). Or all the hand-created signs for Trump you see, the cars decked out in pro-Trump slogans, etc. You and I happen to loathe him (and we are not alone: he has high negatives), and many Republicans hold their nose while voting for him, but his core base absolutely adores the guy and would walk barefoot over hot coals to vote for him. How @Phil can overlook all the evidence in favor of this and claim "nobody likes him... not even his own voters" is beyond me. My guess is that he was tired or distracted and not thinking much when he typed that.

Take it all in, Sane Conservatives.  It's the deal with the devil you made to get conservatives in the courts and to not have to look at Hilary's face for 4/8 years.

Hillary being a horrible candidate and Orwellian political correctness is how he won in the first place.

One lost election and the Democrats gave up (some of them reluctantly but they still in the end gave up) on the idea that she was a viable candidate.

Two elections in which he failed to get a majority of the popular vote and Trump is once more the front-runner in a GOP primary. And he's running on vengeance and that he did nothing wrong on 1/6; good luck appealing to swing voters.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Well, if he runs, he’ll likely get in.
Even Independents hate this $hit.
It’s low and cowardly.  Sadly, it’s often effective, although with Trump this is fuel for HIS engine.
And if he’s fortunate to have BOTH houses - look out!

While Trump will be the first former president indicted, he will not be the last if that is the standard for prosecution.  Presidents both past and future had best watch their back.

Presidents in the past had mistresses while in office  They we’re public knowledge.
JFK, FDR, Eisenhower, Clinton, the list is long.  No doubt those partners received plenty of payments for the “troubles.” So give me a freakin’ break.
I know the charges aren’t infidelity but really- a good lawyer can twist the statutes to meet any circumstances.

DA Bragg is a Soros funded DA so just for fun here’s a list of State and local “leaders” on Georgie’s “hook”. Bought and paid for.   I’m sure there are more.  Albania in Europe for example is a nation bought and paid for by him.  Unbelievable how he’s allowed to get away with this.

Get away with what???? How is he any different than the Kochs?

Lots of conservatives are very quick to point out the Soros connection.  I wonder what they're appealing to....😈

There’s a good deal of things being beyond the legal heads talking statute of limitations.  So, I’m waiting to hear more detail here. This from a 30 yr professor of law, Jonathan Turley, no hack.
A lot we don’t know right now.
So, I’ll wait.

If Trump officially is on the ballot, I will vote for him, unless someone better comes out of the woodwork soon.  Is there any better choices out there right now that would be better than this current administration, sure.  However, anyone that would be a better option is losing ground and or has not stepped up, so we shall see what 2024 brings.  MAGA Trump is currently the favored best option, fortunately or unfortunately depending on each individual persons feelings or thoughts.

Compared to what?  Biden?  That's some serious rationalization, right there.

It's all irrelevant.  We are going to get four more years of Biden.  You can thank Trump for that.

I do wish Trump would be less crazy and learn how to control his temper and not say all of the nasty things he says, but not everyone who voted for him consider him to be the second coming of Christ. Even Dennis Prager didn't like him at first and wrote this when he won the primary in 2016: A Dark Time in America

That election though was like a choice between having to move to Phoenix or Barrow for the rest of your life.

But Biden and the Democrats have done a whole bunch of bad things that limit my freedom. Maybe you can come up with a list of bad things Trump has done for each of these and then we'd be even

  1. Forcing people to get vaccinated against COVID or lose their jobs, even though some people know other people who had serious side effects from the vaccine.
  2. Teaching children in school to hate our country and its history and that they are automatically oppressors if they are white and victims otherwise
  3. Teaching children about LGBTQ at an age that is way too early which has resulted in some of them having sex change surgery at an early age and later regretting it for the rest of their lives
  4. Calling parents who protest the education at school board meetings "domestic terrorists", as Merrick Garland did
  5. Encouraging riots and "defund the police" that destroyed many neighborhoods and businesses, caused skyrocketing crime rates, and made cities and neighborhoods less safe (all while failing to put an end to police brutality incidents)
  6. Biden telling migrants to immediately surge to the border in 2019 if he won and telling them to "come on in" in 2020, which resulted in a 400% increase in illegal immigration and more drugs and weapons coming in that mass shooters can use.
  7. AOC making statements that "capitalism is irredeemable" and Bernie praising the communist regime in Cuba.
  8. Threatening to make healthcare be 100% run by the government, ending all private insurance options.
  9. Forcing everyone buy expensive electric cars and do other crazy things to save the world from climate change (which will only make things worse for the poor who can't afford it)
  10. Government telling doctors what they are allowed and not allowed to do to treat COVID and other illnesses
  11. Allowing biological males enter women's restrooms or to compete in women's sports, breaking records (because the male body is more athletic)
  12. Calling everyone who disagrees with you a racist, homophobe, transphobe, bigot, hater, fascist, etc.
  13. Firing people for their current political beliefs or for actual racist comments they made on Facebook 15 years ago and apologized for

It depends how you define freedom of course, but I've seen articles by people in the center criticizing both the left (for drifting towards socialism) and the right for supporting Trump. They think both are horrible. Too bad they can't get someone else.

California has a law that will discipline and punish doctors if they use Ivermectin, for example,  and it worked great for me and I haven't gotten covid since then. I know someone who needed a heart transplant after the 2nd shot. My brother, who is pretty liberal, and lives in Sweden also refused to be vaccinated as well as his wife, and they cannot enter the United States now without being vaccinated. Another friend moved to Tennessee. because of the vaccine mandates in California.

People are concerned about safety over freedom when it comes to covid mandates, and yet are not worried about less safety due to increasing crime rates.

Which of the points I listed are nonsense?

The vaccine is safe.  I do not know what to tell you.  Confirmation bias is a helluva drug.  It'll most likely be thrown in with the flu vaccine sooner or later.  Once yearly and call it a day.

On another note: A former CIA Chief of Counterintelligence, James Olson,  now believes Putin isn’t long for power if not the world.
If he won’t leave willingly, they’ll eliminate him.

The war has bogged down and their losses are mounting and no longer supported by other Kremlin leaders or the public.  It’s a disaster for Russia and Putin’s political career. It’s just a matter of time.

It’s estimated he’s lost 170,000 soldiers.  Russians won’t tolerate this much more. Few sign up to fight and many young men have fled to Siberia to hide out.

The main thing I have against Trump is he will cause the Republicans to lose.

Now I'm going to quote something, that some people would say makes me sound like Breitbart. So sorry.

Quote

The belief that certain fundamental rights are God-based — a view held by every American founder and nearly all Americans throughout its history — is reviled outside of conservative religious circles, and held by fewer and fewer Americans today.

The view that male and female are distinctive identities — one of the few unquestioned foundational views of every society in history — is being obliterated. Simply saying that one believes (all things being equal) a child does best starting out life with a married father and mother will ensure they’ll be considered a “hater.”

The ideas that America should be a melting pot, or that all Americans should identify as American, are now unutterable in educated company. In fact, many college campuses do not have an American flag on their campus because some students regard it as offensive and representational of imperialism and capitalism.

It's from the article I referenced a few posts above.

Some of it may be accurate but some of it is just right-wing garbage.

Like the assertion that "many or most" Democrat leaders in Congress are socialists.

There actually was a socialist running in the Democratic Party primary in 2020. He lost. And he lost because many or most Democratic Party leaders united against him, by endorsing Biden and encouraging the other non-Sanders candidates to drop out of the primary. (This successful bit of electoral political strategizing seriously upset quite a few socialists.)

Try prioritizing a commitment to factual accuracy and you might find that those who disagree with your politics have more respect for what you post.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Some of it may be accurate but some of it is just right-wing garbage.

I always think that most of the Democrats are not Socialists, it's the powerful elite minority that command most of the attention...

They probably get lots of attention on Fox News and other right-leaning media outlets, but ultimately AOC is not House minority leader and Sanders is not president. (Even though, as someone well to the left of the Democratic Party establishment, I personally wish it were so. But my personal preferences are irrelevant. Socialist politics is not the dominant force in the Democratic Party.)

It's called clown range for a reason.

But I guess nasty comments about Mexican criminals, hate speech such as "master bedroom" and stupid tweets made by Trump are more of a concern for most people here than skyrocketing inflation and crime rates, anti-capitalist agendas, only teaching students negative things about American history and letting minorities know how horrible it is here and that something must be done to fundamentally transform society.

I'm impressed by your thoroughness.  I'm still not sure if a lot of your posts are just copy/paste from other sites though....
