12z gfs liking the idea of keeping the rain away next week until Saturday on this run. If the temps verify for next week on the 12z it may be the warmest week of the summer so far, Practically a heat wave by this summers standards.

Cloudy and 68 degrees currently. If I had just woken up now I would not have even known it had rained last night. Ground soaked up the rainfall already and the roads are dry here in Tacoma. Really glad it rained. Rains have been really well spread out and timed this summer. All the rains in the mountains and on Vancouver island have really spared us from a repeat performance of the last 2 summers.

Way too muggy this morning. Worst type of weather. Worse than all those cloudy days we had in July.

That only happened within a 30-foot radius of my house.   It was wonderfully sunny everywhere else.

Why won’t everyone just let this go? It’s in the past now. Look how mistreated I am! Matt?!?

Hawks brought it up.

Its odd that he would also be reporting unusually persistent cloudiness as well though.    He does not live in my tiny microclimate.   Maybe it was more widespread than 10 feet off the back of my deck??

Notice he said July, as in the first half. Not a month straight for everyone up there, as you kept insisting.

But you just won't leave it alone, will you Tim?

Nope!

And I never said all of July.   I said a "month" because the weather turned wetter and cloudier starting on June 18th.    And that ended on July 18th.    I believe that is exactly one month if I am doing my calculations correctly.    You can run the numbers and verify that for me though.    ;)

It rained on 9 out of the last 12 days in June for much of King County.   Including Hawks area and my area.

This conversation has already been had too many times but it was unusually cloudy down here as well. Not to the extent of north bend but still pretty cloudy from about June 15th-July 20th. I personally didn’t mind the clouds too much there was some sun mixed in a few days. Seems like after the 1 90+ day on June 12th the pattern just got stuck for a month or so. But yes it was unusually cloudy but you guys are arguing over preference of weather yet again. Some people enjoy 60 and drizzle some enjoy 90 and sunshine lol. June was still pretty dry besides the clouds we had only 0.11” the second half of the month. 0.99” in th first half of July. Overall it was a spring like pattern in early to mid summer.

Actually not arguing about preferences at all.   I don't care if someone enjoyed the perpetual cloudiness... good for them.   They can still recognize it happened and it was unusual for summer.

Here is the rainfall for the North Bend/Snoqualmie area this summer.   I have circled the one month period that Jared says did not happen.

Also notice the .49 there today.   I am big fan of large rainfall totals and lots of dry days in between.   Good combination.   :)

it was unusual. I believe even the Nws Seattle Twitter put out a tweet about it comparing cloud cover for July compared to the last 5 years.

Were you everywhere at all times in King County over that 4 week period?

SEA had 17 mostly cloudy or cloudy days from Jun 15 to Jul 15, defined as days with more than 70% cloud cover (and keep in mind, high/mid level cloud cover counts as well). We've seen how even very sunny months from previous years managed to go down as 40-50% cloud cover months, so these numbers definitely err on the cloudier side.

That means for that month that was so terrible at your location, almost half the days at SEA were partly or mostly sunny.

You often project your personal experience at your location to all of King County, and this is another example of that.

Who cares how people break it down... it was a full month of general cloudiness and frequent rain.

Those % cloud cover numbers are meaningless.

how so? I’m sure it’s not a completely accurate number but it seems to be a pretty accurate representation of the cloudiness during the 1st half of the month. It was cloudy roughly 80% of the time from July 1st-17th here and most of the Puget sound area.

Neither said the full month of July. The article was about the first half.

I don't care about how an article focused on July only. It was a full month of general cloudiness and showers for much of King County. And that was quite unusual for King County in the summer. Some of us on here actually experienced it... you did not. It was unusually persistent. You will never convince anyone around here that it was not unusual. ;)

They are definitely exaggerated. Does anyone believe Seattle saw 60% cloud cover in July 2016?

The first 10 days of July 2016 were very cloudy. And numerous days after that as well. That month is the closest match to this year. But the last part of June was was warm and sunny in 2016 so it did not seem as long.

I just ran through the visible satellite loop for July 2016... 60% seems about right.

The first real sunny day that month was on 7/21... and then 7/22 and 7/23 were cloudy again.   The last week of the month was basically sunny.

Look it up Jared.   60% sure looks reasonable.
