Update from NWS for Western WA:

"The air mass will remain cool and showery Sunday night and Monday with low snow levels as an upper level trough shifts down from B.C. Snow levels are low enough for a mix of rain/snow across the lowlands but for the most part significant impacts are not expected. The flow will remain onshore which will keep surface temperatures above freezing (helping to mitigate accumulating snow). But one area to watch would be the East Puget Sound Lowlands near the Cascades (like North Bend) where heavier showers or convergence zone showers could lead to some minor accumulations. At the coast, there's a chance of thunderstorms too where instability in the greatest.

Another wet/active period of
weather is slated for Tuesday and Wednesday with the next strong Pacific storm system moving in. Snow levels remain low Tuesday morning with another threat of rain/snow mix in the lowlands. However, significant/widespread lowland snow accumulations are not expected"

They will be reminded that they live in the foothills.

Monday is probably a mid-30s high with sub 522 thickness during the afternoon. In the heart of winter it would be a 29-32 high easily.

Above 1500 in Oregon and 500-1000 in Washington.  Snow levels will dip at night obviously.

Snow levels will be lower than that at points in northern Oregon. I think some people up on the Puget sound forget that Washington and Oregon share a  border ;)

It's not what I was trying to say. 1500ft in southern Oregon to 500 feet at Canadian border is more like it.

Nice to see PDX hit 35 again this morning. They overachieved some on the lows the last few days, which kind of balances out how much they wildly overachieved on the highs Friday and Saturday.

Low of 34 here with fog and some frost. Looks like VUO also hit 34.

The 12z EURO is showing snow pretty much to sea level across NW Oregon next Friday evening with temps in the 34-35 range at the valley floor. Probably 500' snow levels.

I get it, it’s just interesting. A lot of folks up north seem to think I’m an Oregon poster when I’ve actually been a Washington state citizen my whole life. I think in many minds there is an invisible southern boundary to the “real Washington” somewhere around Olympia.

With regional onshore flow, there's not likely going to be much of a latitude difference. Coos Bay could be just as likely as Bellingham to score accumulating snow.

Oregon never should’ve allowed Washington to break away in the later 1800s. Was a huge mistake in retrospect.

Yeah if the 522dm thickness line crosses us in heavy precip and onshore flow it will upslope here and cause more precip and lower the snow level.

Your current location probably got nailed with the March 21-22, 2012 storm. Eastern side of the valley always does better with onshore flow and anafronts.

I always consider SW WA to be part of PDX. Where do you live again though?

I consider Seattle to be part of greater Canadaland.

Real WA extends up to about the Tumwater Costco, and then the Ritzville Les Schwab on the east side.

Not to pull a Jim, but I'm surprised there isn't more excitement about this.

You remind me of a Katy Perry song about two opposing temperatures…

spring is in the air and this type of pattern especially this time of year will not yield much impact below 1k feet.  Like I said, you are gonna do just fine, enjoy it.

I just have to admit, winter doesn't really start until mid-February down here.
