No new posts since last night. That's unusual.

Looks like rain amounts were low in the PNW despite Cliff Mass predicting a heavy rain event.

Wish I had a rain gauge, all I can go by is that my driveway is more underwater this morning that it was over the weekend so I think we had a lot here overnight.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

It was a mountain and foothills event as he showed last week.    Crazy orographic enhancement in this pattern.     It has not stopped raining here since Friday evening... even though it managed to clear out for awhile yesterday around Seattle.   Almost up to 4 inches here on the month.   And I am sure places in the North Cascades got much more.

Water is absolutely roaring down the ridge here this morning... every waterfall and creek is running at full throttle.    This type of perpetual warm front pattern happens every couple years.   It also usually leads to much nicer weather down the road.

And the radar is lying again, still raining.

I was going to mention that... the radar is really bad at capturing the extent of this low level drizzle.    I looked at the radar this morning and saw all the rain was to the north but then checked out the traffic cams and it was very wet with low visibility all the way to Bellevue along I-90.

Current radar would make you think its all dry around here...

But this is really what it looks like...

Another two things to note, the grass has noticeably greened up and also definite growth. And I saw my first mosquito of the year this morning as well!!

Our major cooldown this weekend may bring temps close to normal.

We have reached February 5th... the day that the record lows at most stations jump up significantly.

To illustrate... the record low at SEA on 2/4 is 7 degrees set in 1989.    The record low on 2/9 is 26 degrees.

It does go lower than that on some days of course... but before today most of the record lows are in the single digits and teens and after today most of the record lows are in the 20s.

4 years ago today it was sunny and cold in Seattle...

That was a beautiful day. Down here heavy snow would be falling within 24 hours.

There are many days when I am jealous of Eugene.

The downside there is the persistent low clouds and fog when there is offshore flow... but that season is short.

Not really... looks like a normal spread centered around normal.

And normal is not really close to meaningful in February.

Be interesting to see Phil's thoughts on the noise the GFS operational has been putting out...Basically retrograding the west coast ridge a bit to allow at least a little troughing... Could be early signs of our spring pattern setting up, model noise, or just a transitory pattern...

Yikes...EURO definitely not on board.

Forget Jim, I know he's fine. I am worried about Jesse! Unless that is he received a well deserved suspension or ban...

Jesse was not doing anything wrong prior to his sabbatical... its probably just a choice he made to take a break.
