A leaked hospital memo in the province suggested nurses should help patients use hard drugs in the hospital rooms, in pursuit of “harm reduction,” Palmer reported.  

This past week, some elected officials in the province called to end the decriminalization experiment — as Oregon now has.

“I have never seen this kind of open drug use … this level of encampments … this amount of suffering,” one Vancouver area city councilor said.

Why would I follow the advice of the "experts" who said to stay home as much as possible during the beginning of the pandemic until George Floyd happened and they said to go out and protest as much as possible because systemic racism is more deadly than the pandemic?

Yeah, exactly. The "expert" class has definitely disgraced themself to the point where what they have to say has no meaning. I would probably trust a plumber about as much as I would trust a primary care physician to give me health advice.

Bellingham is really bad,  but I think they are starting to try to reverse things at least for downtown.  They had Public Works do a thorough deep cleaning, then they set up a "precinct office" downtown and have a pretty heavy presence downtown  on foot and bikes.  I don't ever go down there, but I've heard its a lot better.

However, we still have a hellscape behind the Walmart north of town.  The owner of that property lives in Singapore, and nobody has been able to track them down.  The property owner is the only one who can initiate the eviction process for this encampment.  There was a drug "kingpin" set up there and basically set up a fortress with armed guards.  They managed to arrest him a month or 2 ago.  I've read reports that they have a burn pit for people who have OD'ed and died.  There was a murder near there a week or so ago, and they had to bring in members of the SWAT team and they had a drone flying overhead to protect the detectives investigating the crime. 

 

No way in hell would I live in a political landscape like Texas, Florida, South Carolina or any other of a half dozen plus states that have become overrun by MAGA morons, but I am finding it increasingly difficult to stay here despite how much I love the landscape and the climate.

The Senate polls are much more encouraging for Democrats, with many of their candidates showing narrow leads. Right now it's tough to gauge those polls though, as most of the Republican candidates are not well known. This election could range from a R +1 pickup in the senate to about +10 for Republicans, though the latter scenario does not appear likely at this time.

Actually it's more likely due to equity and DEI that if I get cancer, my doctor's only credentials will be that she's an oppressed Black overweight lesbian who knows nothing about cancer, since to the left your score in the oppression Olympics is far more important than your education, experience or merit-based qualifications. 

Since I'm a heterosexual white male, I'd also be at the end of the queue, and the queue would be very long due to all of the illegal immigrants overwhelming the system with their free, prioritized health care.

I do not condone the breaking into the buildings.  I think that is counterproductive and damages the message that the peaceful protestors are trying to achieve.

Some of it is a hypothetical scenario, of course, but they really are trying to give free health care to illegal immigrants in California. Given the large number of people coming in, that's eventually going to clog up our medical system and cause very long waiting times.

Regarding DEI however, think of it as affirmative action on steroids. Cliff Mass explains it well (and it's not some right-wing click bait article)

I think it goes without saying that I am not religious.  I think it goes without saying that I am not a fan of Tucker Carlson.  Even though I am very familiar with the history of Israel and a lot of the Middle East, I am always looking to learn more.  I watched this expecting to roll my eyes, cause it's Tucker, FFS!

This was outstanding!

Gotta hand to to Tucker.  He shut up and listened.  He went ahead and invited a guest who would say things that would anger a lot of people in America.  He then posted it for his fans to see.  And based on his YouTube comments, this video was rather eye opening for many.  That takes guts.  Major respect!  I still hate him though.

I am only posting this here because, even though it pertains to Israel and Gaza, it has a lot to do with American politics and the selective practicing of Christianity in America.

Even though religion does not interest me in the slightest as far as practicing it, I find the politics surrounding it fascinating since it feeds into and can exploit the primitive tribalistic parts of our brains.  As such, I have always been curious as to why news coming out of the Middle East almost always seems to pertain to the Jews and Muslims and almost never the Christians.  Since Jerusalem and Bethlehem are such important places in Christianity, why does there not appear to be any Christian interest in in maintaining any sense of order there? (Aside from the Rapture nonsense in which most Jews will die anyway, so Israel must be a Jewish state to get the party started, so who cares about them, right?)

I am fairly confident that there are many on this board who are either passive or practicing Christians.  Some of you have been pretty outspoken (looking at you, @Anti Marine Layer).  I am curious about your knowledge of Christians in Israel and Gaza historically and currently. 

- Would you be surprised to learn that thousands were pushed out of their homes in the establishment of Israel in 1948.  The Nakba was not just about Muslims.

- Would you be surprised to learn that many Christians living there view Israel as an apartheid state?

- Would you be surprised to learn that those Christians living in Gaza are starving to death and are not allowed to leave unless given permission because they are viewed as Palestinians instead of Christians?

- Would you be surprised to learn that the pastor in this video calls the occupation of Gaza a genocide?

- Would you be surprised to learn that Palestinian Christians living in the West Bank also have their homes bulldozed and settlements built in their place?

- The IDF sniped two elderly churchgoers and shot at those attempting to help them?

Yeah this guy is also trying to say there are  provocateurs amongst the protesters too, and you still probably don't believe there were plenty of provocateurs on 1/6 as well, but I saw plenty of video evidence in the the past that there were,  including Ray Epps who they didn't want to arrest for a long time because he was one of the feds. In fact I believe it was a set-up because Nancy Pelosi turned down an offer for more security. There were people trying to stir up the crowds on 1/6 and trying to get them to enter, including Ray on video. In fact I've seen videos of Capitol police waving people on in. But since you suck up to CNN and other leftist news you never see what really happened. Besides many of the youth today are as stupid and brainwashed as can be and wouldn't survive long in Palestine! And don't try to get me to provide a link or video evidence of 1/6 as I don't have time right now, but could if I look it up or stumble upon more news.

The wall wasn't finished, but he was wanting to and planning to finish in his second term if possible. The left and probably many RINO'S thought it costs to much, but that cost was nothing  compared to what they are throwing away (my tax dollars) for another country half a world away. As I've mentioned on here before a man was murdered just a few miles from my mine by an illegal in the wonderful year of 2020.  The US Marshalls had to conduct a month long man hunt to find the bastard.  You can pin that one on our wonderful State and King County government for not handing him over to ICE when they were supposed to a few weeks before the murder.  Amazing how that story barely made the headlines other than in Ellensburg.
