wx_statman
One more, from the Midwest - International Falls Airport averaged -2.8 for the period Jan 16 - Feb 28 this year. This was 2nd coldest all-time during that stretch, behind only the massively -NAO 1962-63 winter, which averaged -3.7 during that stretch. Prior to the airport era, you have to go back to 1917 for a similarly cold average during the 2nd half of winter (-3.3 in 1917).

wx_statman
Looks like the high of -5 in Billings on 2/25 was their latest on record. Previously, they had maximums of -4 in March of 1951, and again on 3/2/2014. Oh, and the month finished 22 degrees below normal!

Having a multi year Nino so soon after the big 2014 - early 2016 Nino would be extremely rare. 2. Multi year El Ninos during a deep solar minimum would be either extremely rare or unheard of. 1 Quote Death To Warm Anomalies! The Maunder/Dalton minimums and subsequent decades in the 18th/19th centuries had more *weak* multiyear niños and strong single-year niñas, with the most consistent tendency being colder Indo-Pacific Warm Pool SSTs, weakened Asian summer monsoons, and colder global temperatures. Timmy Supercell
4th coldest and 2nd snowiest February on record in Klamath Falls. 27.50" at my house and 33.40" at OR-KL-5 station (CoCoRaHS network). At the old KF station that recorded snowfall from the late 1800's through 2001, only two February's had more than 2 feet of snow. This one was 2nd only to 1938 with 39.00" and the previous 2nd snowiest was 26.00" in 1919. Most, if not all of southern Oregon had one of their top 5 or top few coldest Februarys this year. What's more, is that I didn't even have any historic singular 1 day snowfall events in February... Rather it was a bunch of 1-5" days randomly distributed through the month at a consistent pace. Imagine if another Jan 3-4 2017 had occurred in Feb 2019? How much snow would I be talking about? 40+ inches?
