Well since we are on the subject…My dad passed away peacefully last evening. Rough stuff but both my sister and I have an odd calmness over us, he battled so many health issues since the late 1980’s w

Said goodbye to our 17-year old lab today.   He was such a great companion for my sons growing up.  So many adventures.   He has been on every mountain peak around here.    Sad day... but it was time.

Last time I saw a temp map like this was the epic of December/January 21/22. Dropped to 6 degrees at my place. I imagine we'd perform roughly the same with this kind of set up as well. I was always sad that my wife didn't get to enjoy that, so maybe we could just lock this in and she can experience some real winter weather in this state for once.

Snow depth at Mount Bachelor (last updated April 29th) 88"

Snow depth at my home (updated April 29th) late season 1"!

23-24 seasonal snowfall at home (updated April 29th) 92"!!

HIghest snow total (per event): 5.8 inches total 1/11/24 - 1/12/24.

Most recent accumulation (non trace): 0.20 inches on 2/26/24

Days with  trace or more snowfall: 12/01/23 (0.60), 1/8/24 (1.0), 1/10/24 (3.5), 1/11/23 (3.5 inches with Thundersnow; separate event from prior day), 1/12/24 (2.30). 1/14/24 (T), 1/17/24 (1.20 inches), 1/18/24 (1.5 inches), 1/19/24 (0.20), 2/09/24 (0.30), 2/26/24 (0.20-mainly graupel), 4/5/24 (T)

First Freeze: 10/27/2023

Last Sub freezing Day: 1/20/24 (12th) (8 days in a row from 1/12/24-1/20/24)

Coldest low: -12F (!!!!!!!!) (1/12/24)

Mean 850s drop to -6.4 on the 8th on this GEFS run.  A good degree drop from previous runs.  Later in week two is worlds better on this run at the 500mb level.  Can't wait to see the 850 output on the individual members.

If we actually pull this off I will be impressed.  That will make almost every winter from 2016-17 on with something good (except for 2019-20 for some places).  Even that winter had some January fun for places north of Seattle, and a brief bout of winter for the Central Puget Sound.

To pull off a win in a strong Nino in January would be incredible.
