00z GFS is an improvement for Chicago metro.

Last minute "at the buzzer" rally?? Suddenly both Euro and GFS have me well into dbl digits up here. Cautiously optimistic as I try to get some zzz's. Going to be much slower commute tomorrow.

I'm not sold yet for Chicago and over to here.  Will be interesting to monitor trends though.

Cheryl Scott on ABC just said most of Chicago 1-3. 3-5 in close suburbs now.  I'm just west of city, so hoping I get the 7+ range.

Waking up to some big fatties falling with about 3 inches on the ground atm.  Kiddos are going to have a snowman building kind of day.  I'm going to take the dogs out for a walk and enjoy it, currently 32 degrees.

$2.74/ gallon!  That's some cheap gas my friend...this looks like your classic Plains Blizzard....glad you scored Bigly!  The scene looks very similar to what I drove through on the way up into the mountains on SUN.

Back in the saddle storm tracking from my warm and cozy place...well, its not that warm outside as it dipped below freezing at (31F).  I came home, unpacked, ate and fell asleep at 6:30pm,  woke up once and then fell back asleep.  On the grind since 3:00am...lets go!

3.5” down so far. Snow stopped for a bit overnight. Picking back up now. Decent rates right now but gonna need heavier rates to really push accumulations. 6-8” still seems on track.

Are the winds going to make it to you in time to produce some blizzard conditions?

34* Breezy all night.
Wind currently 16mph

Had some power outages last night.
Fun times. That front wanted everyone’s attention and it got it. It plowed in hard and everyone will be looking for their trash cans today.

Hmm, very interesting to see the last minute shift SE for Chitown...LOT must be updating their graphics page...I see the EPS shifted SE and now most CAM's show the RN/SN line south of a line from ORD/Oakbrook area....

Edit: just read their LOT discussions and the SE shift is well noted...

Roads were crap here in Des Moines area last night 11pm. Only 2-3" at the time, but the 32F temp made things ultra slick. Even in 4 Wheel / felt like  2 wheel. Experienced winter driver.  No plows so it was rutty and threw you around even in full size pickup. Probably didn't help I was doing 55mph on I-235-- but hey- got to get to work on time!!!

I'm at 4.8" this morning, waiting for the defo zone to solidify.  The ratio so far is 8.7 to 1.  With another 12 hours to go, I should get another 4-6".
