Transition to +EPO/-PNA after 1st week of December is indeed a real signal IMO. Unlikely to be cold/blocky but it’ll be cooler and more active in the west and warm in the east (for all the hype about cold weather east of the Rockies this month will likely finish with a positive departure here). I do think this +TNH/-EPO regime returns for January though. Probably with increased amplitude and durability if anything (it peaks as lead EOF to E-IPWP forcing in Jan/Feb, in winters that take said route). Doesn’t mean death ridge over the PNW but it’s very likely to be dry/blocked.
