Would tend to agree with this. Teleconnections look very favorable with a lack of high latitude blocking as well. I don’t think we see a March 2012, but maybe something similar to last year is possible. Also, models are completely useless right now due to the lack of weather balloon sites as a result of the budget cuts, so don’t really care what they’re showing at day 12 or whatever.

Feb 2025 was more impressive from a duration and overall anomaly perspective than anything in 2014-15, but other than that, fairly similar.

Yeah I think you could make a reasonable case that we basically just had our next round of 2014-2016 winters. If you look at these last two winters side by side with those two, it's very similar. Neither one of those winters was as bad as this one, in my opinion.
