If you match up the 15Z mesoanalysis on the SPC site vs what the RAP/HRRR is forecasting, the surface low is quite a bit further southwest and weaker. It really looks like we are going to get dryslotted here in Omaha for most of the evening with a little bit of light snow well after midnight here. Northeast Nebraska has seen their totals go way up on the models, while ours has only gone down on since the 0Z runs. I'm actually more interested in the possible severe weather in southwest Iowa this afternoon. Might be close enough for me to head that way.

Low should travel this boundary more or less.

Geos, what does the ice threat look like? Eh nvm not much

Probably not a issue around here, but in central Michigan it could be.

33 degrees

Temps are under guidance by 3-4°.

Maybe you should let your wife now that the sleet could get going a bit earlier.

Evaporative cooling is going to keep them down below guidance all day probably. Remember the talk of the dry air mass... that's why.

NWS Hastings Update...

issued at 1019 am CDT Wednesday Mar 23 2016
the storm system has slowed and snow will be slower to begin later
this afternoon and evening...therefore have delayed the start
times of the Winter Storm Warning and the Winter Weather Advisory.

I am looking at some wild weather tonight with snow and winds that they say could gust to 65 MPH.  Wow

They are really talking up how bad it will be tonight.  Many activities are cancelled.  Right now 38 degrees with a north winds gusting to 45 MPH.  Looks like I-80 in the Nebraska panhandle is closed along with other highways (Highway 20) according to 511 Nebraska.  Most churches are closed tonight.  Schools should be good in this area today as snow will not begin until this evening.  We will have to see how much drifting happens tonight to determine school tomorrow.  The Plains can be amazing with changes in a short period of time.  Some places were 80 yesterday in Southwest Nebraska.
