The other amazing aspect of this situation is how fast it changes to my west.

Tiger Summit which is at 1,300 feet does not have much snow at all... but the cold air scours out faster there.    There are places in North Bend at 400 feet that are buried in snow... and they are 900 feet lower than Tiger Summit.

The Snoqualmie Valley just traps the cold air perfectly in this situation... but we still get tons of moisture overriding the cold air.

It amazes me what your location is capable of at only 1100 feet.  There is a town east of me (Oakridge) that is at 1200' and probably only averages around 12 inches a year.

Have you kept track of interesting records?  I'd love to know what your top snow depth was, top seasonal snowfall, etc was.  I'd also love to see a pic of your Dec 2008 driveway.

Must have had some freezing rain...just let my dogs out and noticed my truck was incased I'm ice but temp now at 33.2. The 6z must have been bad or everyone is passed out from Whiskey and Friends marathons!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Richmond, we did really well today. I always seem to have different amounts then YVR, a real micro climate one you get away from the airport.

I somehow ended up with 4", pretty happy since that's what I told all my friends and family the day before... and then I was bombarded with "WHERE'S THE SNOW?" A little late to the party, but it verified...

Have a feeling I'm going to bite it today/tonight though, where I had forecast another 4"... praying for some surprises.

YVR itself tends to do very poorly with snow compared to most regions in the metro area. I'd say in general, most places have seen 6-8" this week, with some lucky spots reaching a 12" weekly total. I know the Coquitlam area has done really well with both events. Note that a lot of what fell across the region on Monday was almost gone by the time Fridays stuff rolled around, so the snowpack isn't all that impressive. But Monday and Friday ended up having pretty much identical totals for most people.

MM5 NAM takes the low farther north over central Vancouver Island today... and is warmer than the 00Z WRF for our southern VI and Whatcom County friends,

Forecast calling for 8-12" more snow in the Fraser valley. My location is right on the edge for the warning for 2-4". Currently 29F and cloudy with the radar filling in to my west. Will it be freezing or snow or a quick warmup to rain

The power is out here for the third time since last evening. The heavy snow load must be picking off some weak trees.

PDX tied an all time record yesterday with a 1 degree rise in temperature. High was 33, low was 32.

Previous time the record was set was January 16, 1960, with 34/33. That was a couple days before a huge snowstorm....

Nice catch!

I was trying to find pictures from 2008... must be on a storage drive somewhere around here.

Really this is the most prolific snow producing scenario here... cold air supply to the east with copious moisture streaming in from the southwest which would just result in another very rainy day otherwise.

C-zones are second behind this set-up.

I would venture to say your snowpack isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

It's only the 10th.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if you think that actually has a chance at verifying.

Only way to drink that stuff or it will empty your stomach for you. Lol

Lol, that's what everyone says but I never had that issue. In fact, I don't think I've hurled or even gotten sick (generally speaking) in over 15 years. Not sure how much longer I can keep that up.
