It's currently 23F with a stiff NW breeze and some flurries in the air.  Quite the shock to the system.  Kinda miss the 70's and being outside in the sunshine.  Had a light dusting of snow over night which is the first sign of snow I have seen since late January.

It is 29° here at my house, its snowing (light snow) the grass and roofs have about 1/4" of snow. But the road and driveway is just wet. One more item it is also rather windy out there. We will have to see how much the next couple of days knock down the mean temperature here at GRR as of this morning the mean was 34.4° (+8.1°) if that were to hold (it wont) that would be a new record all time record for February. The question now is just how much will the mean drop between now and Tuesday? Looks like the high for today will be 36° (reached at midnight)the foretasted low is 24, tomorrow the high is foretasted  to be 38/29, Monday 43/35 and Tuesday 52/38. Can any math people come up what the mean would end up at if that plays out?

NE IL radar is lighting up with heavier bursst of snow shower activity.  It's nice to see fluffy flakes falling from the sky and surprisingly not melting on the roadways.  Overnight temps in the 20's did the trick and refroze the ground.

With very little chance of measurable snow through Tuesday, it's almost a lock that MSP will finish February with a total of 0.3". That will be the second lowest total in Feb since records started in 1891. Coincidentally that year no snow was recorded and is the record. Let's turn the page. Either give me snow or let's torch into Spring.

We're going to have our 2nd warmest February on record. Had 5 inches of snow over the 2x it snowed this month. What a joke.

We're up to 11.1" at the airport for the season, although they are usually a bit lower than everyone else in town for some reason. I'd say I've had 13-14" total IMBY. We've been above normal every month too. I keep thinking back to what the models showed for snow and cold this winter and think WTH happened?!!

Next year, no matter what the models are showing, I am not going to believe any of it!

Sunny and 50 after work. Keep reminding myself it's just Feb not April. Grass got noticeably green after the T-storm last week.

Large area of Enhanced Risk has spread farther west and north today...I'm actually looking forward to some storms later tonight.

...East of the surface cyclone into IL this afternoon/evening...
A few near-surface-based storms could form this afternoon and
persist into this evening immediately east of the surface cyclone,
along the warm front into central/northern IL as boundary layer
dewpoints increase to near 60 F beneath steep midlevel lapse rates.
Cloud breaks will dictate the degree of surface heating into
northeast MO, with potentially moderate buoyancy (MLCAPE 1000-1500
J/kg) along the north edge of the warm sector into central/northern
IL. If storms form within the north edge of the warm sector, strong
deep-layer and low-level shear will favor supercells with all severe
hazards possible.

Wonder if that plays a role on our weather for next winter, perhaps, cooling off the atmosphere more.

It don't look to be  big enough to have a lot of influence on next winter.

I remember some while ago (several years back) there was a big volcano in Hawaii or the Philippines and it sure did affect our weather back then. I will do some research if time permits me.

I tend to forget torch winter months. If March torches I will remember that, lol since 2012 is emblazoned on my brain!
