Massive snows from NYC-Boston. They get absolutely crushed with 12"+.

Jet energy doing its dirty work off the EC and the warm Atlantic causing feedback.  One of my "to do's" in my Bucket List is to experiencing a raging EC Nor'Easter.

12z GFS back with a light snow event for this Sunday in the Upper Lakes...could be a surprise refresher for those farther north.  I believe the 00z Euro was showing the same thing.

I'll have to be sure to watch the Weather Channel in the morning.  The snow should really be dumping on NYC.

It's not just that. We had decent SLP track and moisture but zero cold HP when we needed it. Then, like magic the cold HP slid down behind our departing low perfectly for the EC. Just not our season.

3.5" of snow today and near zero tonight with a subzero windchill, and then we'll be near 60 on Friday less than 36 hours later!

They will enjoy this...latest models are bringing 12"+ with blizzard conditions in all of the 5 boroughs of NYC. I would not be surprise by 4am this morning if NOAA posts Blizzard Warnings out for the NYC area. Someone there will score high. Cannot wait to see snowfall amounts and pics.

 

FWIW: more snow for them Friday night.

Insane snowfall rates. All of LI is under Blizzard Warnings.

Indeed..they are expecting rain and temps into the 40s, but turns colder next week with snow chances increasing once again.

In CT, across the bay from Long Island there were reports of 1.5" in 15 min within an intense band that sat there for a couple hours.

yea my parents got some thundersnow and are at over a foot in about 4 hours where they are. my dad is state patrol and he said its a mess

personally I love seeing the coastal people in the northeast freak out over snow.  I grew up in upstate NY and wed average around 80-100" a year and these people down near NYC lose their over 3", heck they cancel school over that.  I think it woiuld have be around 8" for us to do that. 

 

 

Even here in Lincoln people freak over 1-2" Its pretty hilarious

Sometimes the media goes overboard as far as snowfall goes. I am surprised that all public schools were closed because we have gotten much bigger snowstorms and schools in Manhattan do not tend to close that easily. As far as New Yorkers losing their S**t ova 3" is not true because we are a tough crowd there.

Looks like Boston may get shafted from the real heavy snow accumulations.  Heavy band to the north and south...looks like a little screw hole over them.

While not amounting to much, I have been getting on and off snow showers today. At times the snow and blowing snow reduced visibility down to less than half a mile. But with the wind there has not been much accumulation. The temperature is 18° with snow showers and wind.
