Another low in the 40s this morning. Only two nights above 50 so far this month. Unheard of in the 2013-16 period.

Quite the opposite in Bend. Just a few nights in the 40s with many not dropping below 60. 97 at the airport yesterday. Average is closer to 85/50 but this summer it's been more like 93/58

12z GFS says Phil will experience some very cool PNW temps while he's there.

At least the 12Z ECMWF looks warm for his arrival day...

It crashes pretty quickly the next day though. ;)

Yes... 1,500 foot snow levels likely.   A crash like we have never seen!

Actually I was just pointing out that he might have one warm day which will be nice so he can tell us that he is wearing a parka and 85 feels frigid.

Oh there is no doubt he will be milking it for the period that he's pretending he's here.

I'm hoping for some Sitka weather. Highs in the 60s with some cool mist would be perfect right about now.

Could do Bubba Gump's, the Hard Rock Cafe or Margaritaville if you're into the theme thing.

In that case, the greene turtle or pelican pete's will do.

Global lower tropospheric temperatures are now at their lowest level (relative to average) since 2008, mostly thanks to extreme cold over Antarctica and the subtropical Southern Hemisphere, in tandem with the cool Arctic/northern high latitudes. The tropics are still much warmer than average, though.

Regardless, quite impressive considering we're just one year removed from a super niño, and 2008 was a moderate La Niña summer.

Deepest -PNA since winter? Going to be plenty of anticyclonic wavebreaking next week over the NPAC.

Some crazy weather in central Chile. It's snowing in places that haven't seen snow in 40+ years.

This is Santiago right now.

99 and 100 in Missoula the past couple days. Not quite record territory, but close. Ended up being a legit heatwave for western MT after all.

Compared to what the Euro and GFS were shooting out a week ago things definitely got watered down and the whole event got shortened from 5-7 to 2 days.

91/94 in Bozeman and 88/89 here so not very noteworthy east of the divide that's for sure.

Cold Season 2023/24:

Total snowfall: 26"

Highest daily snowfall: 5"

Deepest snow depth: 12"

Coldest daily high: -20ºF

Coldest daily low: -42ºF

Number of subzero days: 5

Do you have sources/links for this?

I'm seeing 71F at Schefferville, QC yesterday and 63F today. That's pretty far north in interior Quebec.

53F yesterday at Kuujjuak and 57F today, this is near Ungava Bay in the far north.

I may head down to Chile next month and check out Ski Portillo or Valle Nevado. They need to keep piling up the snow.

We are heading to Whitfish today and the cool shot currently moving in is going to somewhat affect them the next few days. Overnight lows expected to fall into the upper 30s to low 40s tomorrow night there. Strong west winds expected tomorrow afternoon as well.

Yeah it's looking like a pretty typical and beautiful summer pattern up there as well over the next several days. Have fun!
