I think we have all gotten used to the Seahawks having great, fast starts the past 5+ games. Remember, this is how they used to play at the start and we still won games. Nothing to worry about yet.

Except the fact that they are 4-5... and now find a way to lose almost all close games rather than win them. Other than that it's all good.

If any region in the PNW has been "snow cursed" relative to historical norms it would probably be the Seattle area. 

 

It snowed a couple inches in Eugene last February, they did better with that event than Salem did.

For some time now, the GFS (mainly the FV3) has been hinting at cold weather in the long range. There's going to be a huge opportunity IMHO for an Arctic Blast in the first half of December.

That shot is from Renton, Washington. There was little to no snow on the ground in Springfield on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and those are the only 2 days that count and snow must be covering the road. You are correct on 1983. Bottom line, South valley is the most snow-cursed place in the PNW, esp when it comes to a White Christmas.

What is the deal with peoples fascination with snow on the roads. We had 10” on the ground last Christmas morning with 2” of new on Christmas Eve. But the roads were treated and plowed by Christmas morning. So is this not a white Christmas?

Just seems like a strange prerequisite for a white Christmas. No official observations are ever made about snow coverage on the road. I’ve seen it snow several inches during the day before and nothing ever accumulated on the road. It’s still snow.

It means a heavy duty snow and well below freezing which we all enjoy...even on the treated roads. Not the 32/33 degree slopfest that doesn’t stick to the roads.
