Yeah 12z GFS is garbage still. Not too worried as long as the euro is still good. 

 

Gives literally 0 accumulating snow for SEA, PDX and most low land locations.

I would trust the nam over the gfs right now. Not saying nam is better but i believe it is better with this pattern. Gfs was last to even show this event why trust what it shows now.

Portland NWS shows that sunshine minutes and % possible were recorded yesterday, even though it says 0% possible sunshine. Is this an error or are sunshine measurements actually back?

Interesting that pretty much every model has bumped up the timing of the low level Fraser outflow, it's looking more and more like Sunday will be showtime.

Last two GFS have been looking more favourable for snow up here. Solid period of moderate snow late Sunday.

The exact track of where the low spins up as the arctic trough digs off southwestern BC is crucial. The next 2-3 days the track may waver a bit here and there.

Yesterday and today were the 14th and 15th time Chicago had gone below -20 since records began in 1870. Rockford, Illinois set their all-time record low of -30 this morning, breaking the previous mark by 3 degrees. Records there date to 1905.

 

Moline, IL (-33) and Cedar Rapids, IA (-30) also set all-time record lows this AM.

 

The coldest temp was in Cotton, MN with -56.

Nice thing about this reload is that it is really not far out, pretty believable.
