Winter Storm Warning posted for EPSL. "2 inches have fallen as of 1AM and another 3 to 5 are expected by 7AM Monday."

 

Numerous places have already seen over 2 inches, but close enough.

You guys are in quite a difficult spot. Right now you're in the dry slot but there is the potential for deform band precip when the low transfers to the southeast of its current position. The problem is that some of the models are showing the transfer in a way that you guys are essentially a pivot point (too far west after the transfer) for meaningful accumulation. You're best bet would be to monitor the pressure tendencies which would indicate where the low will most likely transfer to and see if that ends up being west of the model forecasts.

Given the perfect northerly gradients we will have tomorrow and how cold it is currently is over the north interior the chances are high max temps will remain below freezing in Seattle tomorrow.  Heavy cloud cover for part of the day will help also.

Nice!  I'm thinking when the really cold / dry air begins to filter into the EPSL we might get some snowfall enhancement due to that air wringing out all of the available moisture.

At least the HRRR and latest NAM seem to have trended favorably on that front.

 

 08z HRRR positions the d band much more favorably for us and each of the last 3 runs seem to have trended it south and west. I guess we'll start to see how valid this is by morning.

Temp of 28 with moderate blowing snow. The North wind has really picked up here in the last half hour or so. Last measurement for the night (2AM) was 5.75 inches.

NWS just upped amounts within the Winter Storm Warning to 4-8". Also going with 1-4" for Seattle. About time they caught on to the fact this is widespread and significant.

They really drug their feet on this one. No idea why. By 5PM it became apparent that the snowier models (Euro) were going to be right but they still waited.

 

Not that a WSW or WWA really matters in the grand scheme of things but something about it makes it feel more official. Even if they are a curse sometimes.

About 3 inches here at 26. Getting windy as well. Looks like the flow is going to start filling more towards the nw soon and get me.

Radar returns continue to get absolutely shredded by the outflow as they make their way up here. Been snowing for a 3 hours now at 23F and still have barely managed a half inch. Obviously shouldn't be complaining, but still wild to see it dumping just to the south. Perhaps it'll make it with this push.

Also, for whoever said they don't care much about the North Sound it seems to be true. Definitely the larger population centers like Mount Vernon and Sedro Woolley will end up with at least advisory and perhaps warning amounts  of snow but we don't even have a winter weather advisory up here.
