February 2019 Weather in the Pacific Northwest - Part 1

Winds have switched to easterly at PDX. They are down to 35, DP 32.

 

Seems to be some clearing around though. Wouldn’t be hard at all for them to hit 40 today with some sunbreaks. Hopefully the DZ will provide some umbrage.

Looks like the ICON wants to give Puget Sound a round two of snow.

Looks like some light snow up there late week. Right now my focus is on PDX and seeing if we can get them some snow.

It was nice to see Coos Bay score this morning. I heard Coquille got 1-2".

Total screw zone in Victoria, tons of snow to the south, plenty to the north and east and virtually nothing here. Our last shot is now disappearing as that band disintegrates on its northern edge. If the late week stuff doesn't pull through this will be a non-event here.

We'll have to see what the GFS says, but it appears to be trending that way too. I think Seattle folks will be fine, but I was really hoping to see everyone score. Maybe there will be a deformation miracle later today.

 

GFS shows no deformation band at all for PDX.

My entire forecast has dropped in temps. I don't think it is going to even touch 32* predicted today.

PDX proper and areas south and east of that still look like they might have a decent chance. Fairly aggressive cutoff of precip west of there though. Me being fairly far west into WA county I am likely screwed but should still at least see some snow in the air.

How much snow have you picked up?

 

I ended up with just over 2". Temperatures hovering around 20F currently. Better than 3 out of the last 4 winters and we'll see if the extra snow during the next hour or so can get us above that 3" line.

This could really be big for the sound the next 12 hrs. I'm thinking a wide area of 4-8 inches total are possible.

Congrats on those that scored. The southern valley got boned as usual. We barely got a dusting at my location. Light non-sticking snow at the moment. I hope TWL at least got a solid dusting as he is about 100 feet higher than me.

The kitsap pen has been sooo close to the precip field. i am still happy with the 3 i got. It looks like we might get a bit more before it slips away.
