Looking at the 1000 foot temperature and snow mixing ratios on the WRF it hints at possible very low snow levels around 11pm to 2am Monday night.  I wouldn't hold my breath either way.

Anti-American? Dude, 99% of liberals love this country and want what’s best. The right wing David Duke fringe is just as “anti-American” as the left wing Antifa fringe.

People seem to think having a liberal political stance means you despise everything this country stands for.

 

It seems to be true for some of the loudest talkers on that side. I think we all understand not all liberals hate this country and what it stands for, but many do. And of course people like David Duke are total rascals and are just as bad. But he is a total pariah, he has absolutely no following and is an extreme anomaly. The only reason anyone even knows who he is anymore is because the media continues to indulge him and parade him around so they can paint everyone on the right with that brush. On the other hand on the left characters like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders are paraded as mainstream figures. They even elect openly anti-Semitic members of Congress, then say Trump, whose daughter is a convert to Judaism and whose husband is a close confident is the real anti-Semite. It really defies logic. I think Trump is mildly deranged and has acted selfishly and largely disappointed. On the other hand I know he believes in our national sovereignty. I would love to vote for someone else in 2020, but the left is going to have to do better than they have done.

True. My brother went to undergrad and Law School at University of Oregon and he's not as conservative as I am, but he is still fairly conservative. He never was as conservative as I am, so that aspect didn't really change during those 7 years. 

 

I've heard of many cases of professors doing a lot of white bashing.  It's gotten so bad that a lot of white boys are struggling with self loathing.  I'll never forget the video I saw of a Millennial protestor in Portland berating a man for being white while the man doing the berating was also white.  They are total lunatics.

Just put up someone who is moderate and reasonable and who can speak in coherent sentences and they have my vote.   But this radical left wing crap is just stupid.    They are going to force people to vote for Trump again.

I do think some of that is overblown on campuses. I mean it exists in many of the humanities departments, but it probably isn't to terrible in gen ed classes and many math and science related majors. 

 

As for self loathers. I definitely know some people who suffer crippling white guilt. To me that's more of a personal problem, if it wasn't that it'd be the other self flagellating flavor of the month. I think most people understand they need not feel guilty for what they had no part of.

Too long ago. My son was studying this week and asked me to look at his work and I said it looked completely foreign to me... but I got an A in AP Calculus. My son said he will never forget it. But unless you use it... you will lose it.

Maybe some of the details, but the concepts are interesting enough where I don’t see myself forgetting them.

Phil has said many times that there is a lag... and that is why he is predicting a multi-year Nina after next winter.

 

And I seriously doubt a Nino means what it normally means in this extended low solar period... its not a kiss of death. We can do just fine with a Nino next winter.

 

Unfortunately, the opposite can be true as well. The long-term Nina from 1998-2001 was in the upswing period of a solar cycle and it did not really deliver like a normal Nina period in lowlands of the PNW.

Yes, he had a long history of that. Peter Godwin also writes about that in Mukiwa: A White Boy in Africa. He was essentially exiled in the 80s for reporting on ethnic cleansing carried out by Mugabe's forces trained by North Korean special ops in order to punish his political enemies. 

 

In When A Crocodile Eats the Sun he writes about his father's shocking admission to the family that he was not actually British, but a Holocaust survivor from Poland who immigrated to England as much of the rest of his family was sent to the death camps. After the war he moved the family to Africa in order to put that chapter of his life behind him (His wife knew his secret), towards the end of his life he reveals this secret to Godwin, who then explores these roots and helps his father find solace under the backdrop of Zimbabwe descending into chaos under Mugabe's madness.

I'm jewish and I support Omar. She was discussing government policy, not Jews or Israelis. The government of a nation is not the same thing as the people of that nation, and we should be able to criticize the former without insulting the latter.

The ECMWF at day 10 looks like the ridge will crash... but I bet the EPS will show that energy offshore breaking off through CA again.   There is lots of energy diving southward again from the Bering Sea at that time.    Blocking theme continues.

Then why didn’t you google it? Probably would have taken you as much time as it did to make the confused emoji.

 

That last part seems subjective. Of course you won’t remember everything, I don’t think anyone actually sits there believing they will. But it doesn’t mean you should expect to forget absolutely everything down to the basics either. Especially if you plan to be a lifelong learner, and not just turn your brain off to everything new once you graduate from college.

I have plenty of reasons to dislike Omar but her alleged 'anti-Semitism' is not one of them. If she were talking about the influence of Russia or Saudi Arabia rather than Israel there would have been no controversy whatsoever. As someone who's neutral on the whole Israel-Palestine issue it's actually amusing to watch members of both parties absolutely lose their f***** minds over this.
