Sky looks almost identical here... currently 73 degrees.

And we agree that this is a gorgeous day!   Some common ground to build on.  ;)

I am sure he also thinks this is a beautiful day.    Most people agree that temps in the 70s is lovely summer weather.   I can also say that I would much prefer 70s over 90s.   We also agree on that.    Lots of strawman building on here pretending that other people have extreme preferences.   But that is usually not the reality.

I think if the ONLY 2 options are cold and rainy all the time vs. hot and sunny all the time, most people would choose the one that is least uncomfortable to them. It's kind of like choosing between Trump and Biden.

Wanted to let y’all know this because I feel that it’s important.

People shined a light into our property and jumped the fence into our yard from the back alley last night. Turned on our pool pump. Then today 2 cars slowly driving by back there. One backed up to make sure I saw it. Then they both drove away right after that.

We called the cops and the police never showed up.

Just want y’all to be aware of the situation here. I get scared easily a lot so this harassment has been really unnerving. I can’t afford a camera for the back but I really need one.

I feel like my family isn’t safe here 😔

For them making sure they were seen, what do police think their end goal was? Scary!

Eugene's been killin' it lately with over-achieving on high temperatures. Every day for the last week has been 5º-7º warmer than the NWS forecast. Today's high of 85º was a +7º.

June 2023 average high to date of 79.3 is +5.2 above normal, but isn't in the ballpark of 2015 (83.6) or 2021 (82.4).

That step change in 2013 is something to behold. Both Atlantic/Pacific meridional modes flipped along with NAM/SAM bimodal covariance.

A whole decade later the meridional modes have finally flipped back, but during a developing niño. 🤔 Couldn’t have scripted it any better.

Could come in #4 for June average high since 1939, if the next 3 days don't magically under-achieve.

Is there something about the pattern that would favor such warmth at the surface? Because 850mb temps haven’t been noteworthy at all.

Oh you and your acronyms. The real explanation is a lot simpler.

2013 is the year I started spending my summers up here, and the weather gods know how much I hate hot weather. 💩

These overperforming temps and drier years are going to create huge problems down the road. The fire will rain into the city from Pisgah or other foothill locations. There won’t be any way to stop it.

Weather god curses aside, it really is a mystery. The pattern of the last few days would suggest highs in the upper 70s, which is what the NWS forecast. No idea why it keeps overachieving by such a large margin.

Not a sensor issue at EUG because other local stations (including my PWS) concur.

78/54 yesterday and 79/55 today. Morning clouds both days with burn off around noon.

A shame PDX couldn’t stay below 80 either day, they will have a clean sweep through the end of the month now it appears. They way things have been overachieving lately it wouldn’t surprise me too much to see them make a run at 90 on Thursday.

At least Lebanon didn’t burn down.

Still going all the way out to Friday with no end in sight.    Honestly hope this run doesn't verify.    If it does... I blame Phil for asking this morning why we weren't all celebrating the troughing for next week.
