Next weekend looking much less interesting...

I have officially stuck a fork in winter for my location. I may see some minor snowfalls, but I doubt I will see a significant snowfall. I've kind of moved on from this winter. It had its good, and its bad.

ya just never know. You could get a foot in mid march with a big cold onshore flow system.

Love Leavenworth's snow totals but too stinkin hot in the summer for me although evenings cool down with air drainage off the mountains at night.  I'd pick Winthrop.  Snow totals just a little less than Leavenworth, a little cooler summers, colder in the winter by quite a bit but definitely drier in precip totals.  Just pretty isolated from pop. centers.  Wenatchee maybe what, an hour and a half away give or take?  North Cascade HW to Seattle closed in the winter so a bit isolated, but great location.  Don't have totals for this last week but it looks like they got a pile of snow.

Leavenworth gets the benefit of cool onshore winds through Stevens Pass at times during the summer. Not quite as cool as Cle Elum in the summer but still cooler than much of the region east of the Cascades. The humidity is also very low much of the time.

Totally could, but that just doesn't seem like its in the cards this year.

Kinda interesting. This is the least amount of snow my area has had in ten years.

And with two major Arctic blasts. Talk about bad luck this month though...

Definitely the least snow here since 2009-10. Wasn't living here then, but I know that year was pretty bleak for snow up here.

Even last winters snoozefest had more snow.

You northern folks feel like us Oregon people did back in 2010-11. We had two arctic events with very little snow while you guys did very well.

Of course with the exception of Corvallis/Albany. They got hammered in late February 2011...Some reason they have done remarkably well the past few years.

I have been at this locating for 10 years. I average 22 inches a year. This year 2.5 inches. 2007 was around 50 inches and 2008 was near 60.

I like the north side of blewett pass. One you turn off of the highway and go up the pass a few miles snow gets deep fast. And still so close to Wenatchee. I have a friend who has lived there for 30 years. He always has plenty of snow.

Wow some places have 10 inches in Whatcom county. No doubt if you look at the area as a whole this has been a good winter. Massive snow in Oregon and 2 arctic blasts. And now the heavy snow up north. It has missed parts of western wa but it has been a good winter for the PNW.

Maybe not endless.

March is almost never going to be truly nice... but it can be decent.

The models SEEM to show a fairly dry period now from Tuesday through next weekend.    Perfect time to come back home.

Dude you can't just say some places in whatcom county have 10 inches without a source. I have 4" at my house in North Bellingham and my parents have 3" out by the lake. There's close to 5" about 100 feet above the lake. My GF just got to work out in Lynden and she measured 5" for me... Sooo I don't know where the 10" are that you are talking about... Komo 4 says Bellingham has 7" and that is some bogus crap that they are actually reporting that total. LOL

Heavier snows not too far out. Radar looks good.

It's probably above 750 to 1000 feet if i had to guess. There is 5" at 420 feet

My parents sent me an e-mail saying they have 4 inches there... just north of the lake at 500 feet.

I told my Dad to take it easy on shoveling.    They don't have to go anywhere... just stay inside and watch it snow.

My Mom wanted to send pictures because she said its beautiful... but she is technologically challenged.   :)

Yeah... this is payback up north for all the nice weather we had while you guys were getting pounded with snow/ice/rain awhile back.

Its a similar situation just farther north.

Actually, KOMO is reporting 7 inches because that's what the NWS is reporting. A spotter inbetween BHam and Everson reported 7 inches since yesterday afternoon. So not completely bogus.

It is completely bogus to say BELLINGHAM has 7" which is exactly what they said. Bellingham proper probably has 3" downtown at most. Probably close to 5" by the airport now. But that 7" more than likely is somewhere way out in the county... NOT Bellingham.

Bham Guy you must be close to downtown?

Tim, your parents have 4" at 500 feet on the North side of the lake. That sounds about right from my various bits of driving around last night and this morning. The differences between just a few hundred feet and a couple miles is nuts. There is 5" in some spots at 420 feet, 4" at 500 feet and 5.5" at 300 feet. There are some tiny little cold pockets that do really well. Between Yew Street and the District 2 Fire Station by Lake Whatcom is a really nice spot. Blodelle Donavon park on the other hand which is about a mile from there isn't so much.

Just measured 10" in my back yard. Shady back there so a little less melted yesterday. It was measured on the lawn though so 9" might be a better number.

Edit. The WRF this morning is showing another 6-8" here before things end on Monday.

Well our daughter arrived at 1:28AM! We are already back home, I am almost seeing double since it has been a while since I slept. Was snowing hard with an inch on the ground when we left the house last night at 10:30PM, get home this morning around 5AM (yeah it shocked me how quick they let us go home) and it was raining ;( Oh well, my daughter makes up for the lack of white outside!

I know! I needed some hot soup and they are sleeping so I snuck out to the kitchen to eat something. I am exhausted but too jacked up to sleep, so I just grabbed the I-Pad to check in.

My wife wanted to have our daughter naturally at a birthing center, they like to get you back home and comfy as soon as possible. All looked well so they sent us off! SCARY!

And yesterday the weather was a good distraction in between my wife not wanting me to be bugging her, lol!

I remember driving home with my twin boys.    I kept thinking... are you really letting me drive away with these tiny babies???

I was so nervous.    This was in San Diego... and ironically we hit a hailstorm on the drive home.   In San Diego.   On the way home from the hospital with two babies.   Unbelievable.

Actually we are much closer to Wenatchee then you think.   We are 25 minutes from Wenatchee, max.  A very easy drive on highway 2 straight into downtown.

Yeah, it is hot in the summers.  It does help that it is dry, but it is still hot.  Air conditioning is a must here, and most houses have them.

We have had a lot of snow since January 29th.  I have not kept track of totals, but we have had probably 7-8 snows of 2-6'.  And some rain in the daytime, which has kept the snow totals still on the ground a bit lower then it otherwise could be.  Still plenty of snow though.
