Pn1ct0g3n
Latest on Kay…not just the rain but much of the wind could be intact in parts of the region. 100mph gusts in downslope areas (!!) They think it will rain pretty much everywhere up to about SLO County. The question is how much. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_ep2.shtml?start
Minny_Weather
High wind warning. Kay is gonna bring tropical storm force winds around these parts. Reg
No sunshine for us today. Mostly smoke and some clouds. You can smell it here now, where the past couple of days you couldn’t.

Anti Marine Layer
Smoke was really thick for a while, but now it's thinned out and there's tropical clouds and a red sun.

I hope it turns wet tomorrow! I'm not looking forward to a dry Santa Ana like event with nearly 100 degree temperatures!

Reg
Temp went from 83F an hour ago to 88F right now and still apparently rising, at 1:40 AM. Sudden gusty winds outside appear to be the cause.

Anti Marine Layer
Mosquito in the house needs to die. Outside it smells like smoke for the first time, even though we had ashes raining down yesterday without any odor.
Anti Marine Layer
Not getting any wind here so far, which is fairly typical for many Santa Ana events. We only get them when they're from the north or northeast.

Pn1ct0g3n
For the first time since 1997, a tropical cyclone is affecting CA while still (barely) at T/S strength. A quarter of a century! Who knows if this will be more common in the climate change era though…? Only one direct landfall has ever happened in recorded history: the 1939 storm that made landfall in Long Beach/San Pedro as a high end tropical storm. Pn1ct0g3n
Suffocating heat but not a drop for me yet. LAX just went into Reverse Ops: planes are taking off to the east and landing from the ocean. Happens only 10x a year on average, during strong offshore events. Anti Marine Layer
It was very windy for a while, enough to make a big mess outside, Santa Ana style. Now it's starting to rain, however.
Reg
Been raining here lightly since 11 AM. 0.13" so far at my station. Temperature pattern is topsy-turvy today - high was 88F at 2 AM, while the low is the current temperature this afternoon at 76F. We had Santa Ana Winds early in the morning, which was messing the temperature up.
