Yeah apparently nobody cares about the current snow falling, the Arctic front coming, the hard freeze coming...let's all freak out over models that are all showing wonky solutions mid week and beyond...makes perfect sense.

I was actually just having this realization. Here I am sitting by the window with the snow falling outside while flipping through the 18z GFS frames and cursing the stupid south winds from the low eventually heading north of PDX.

Mark Nelsen replied to someone on fb calling out his no snow forecast because it's snowing. Mark said it will warm up this evening and pointing out the 42 at the Dalles with west wind.

The NWS is upping the ante now. WWA for the Seattle area for up to 2 inches with locally higher amounts. Just for the record my prediction for a few days now has been widespread 1 to 3 inches with some places getting 4 or 5. Hmmmm. Seems like I may know something after all.

Going to fun to watch the Needle fireworks with snow falling. No guarantee it will snow at that time, but it's quite possible.

Get a solid clearing and sock it all in with freezing fog, and then you could really be in the running for record lows next week. About as likely as the dawgs winning now.

So far precip amounts and snowfall are over performing. Hopefully a prelude to tonight. Places are getting snow right now that were supposed to have no precip at all this early.

18Z once again looked a little better for Victoria. 

 

I'm liking the trends for the short term, the satellite signature shows a healthy looking development. We've done better with worse so I'm pretty optimistic about the way things are shaping up over the next couple days. Not even worth paying attention to the longer term until we get through this.

That was a much slower mover with more moisture to work with. Pretty rare to have a fairly persistent period of onshore flow with thicknesses in the mid 510's.
