Very foggy outside ...visibility in my area now has ta be near zero. That is a very dense fog out there. Drivers venturing out tonight betta watch out and keep their distance from cars ahead of them and also use low beams.

I'm ready for spring! Woke up to sunny sky's and the birds singing! Felt like spring.

After February, I am ready for Spring also. No doubt. After seeing this gorgeous day today, makes me wanna set up my outside patio now.

I remember 2012, people dining on the street downtown Kzoo at St. Patrick's day without a heat lamp or jackets and they were very comfortable! Ofc, the bad side to that was April ended up cold and damaged all kinds of early tree blooms and sensitive vegetation. I got tired of dragging the heat lamp out and covering my wife's rose bushes night after night to preserve the early buds.

That can be annoying. That is why you don't want cold in the Spring. Unfortunately, mother nature sometimes decides ta bring the cold in April and last into May as well. I remember one Easter year, I think it was 2010, not sure, anyways, we had a very early Orthodox Easter in April and you would think its gonna be mild, but instead, we had snow. That sucked tremendously. The Lam had ta be cooked inside the garage for crying out loud wearing gloves and scarfs. Btw..it takes at least 4+ hours for the whole entire Lam to get cooked. Its delicious.

I'm guessing January will come in as one of the least snowiest for ORD in quite some time.

I think ORD is sitting at 0.4" if I'm not mistaken.  Abysmal.  Unless we see some snow within the NW Flow pattern to close out the month, I think it may very well make the list as the least snowiest January.

Your prob going to score on some LES before month's end so I think you will escape Top 5 least snowiest.

Sorry for confusion, those were numbers for Chicago, not mby. I've had 5.6" during that 7 day cold period, including 2" of synoptic so "Tag - you're it!" chasing futility records. :P

I've tracked daily snowfall for 4 yrs here, and this will be the least snowy January of the last 4 yrs. Each has gone lower from the record 42.8" of 2014. I doubt I hit dbl digits this month.

Family member from NYC recently just informed me of updated info on this strong Nor'easter they are having. Winds are gusting to 65mph and along with broken branches and roof damage in parts of the area. Snow in inland counties might be a possibility and substantial. This storm might be able ta draw cold air further south.

Interesting post from NWS Marquette

Here are some impressive stats from the ongoing extended mild-stretch:

- A January record of 8 consecutive days above freezing at NWS Marquette (records began in 1961).

- 5th occurrence (1/19) of a ≥50F day in January for Ironwood since records began in 1902.

- Record lowest snow depth (3") for 1/22 in Marquette (records began in 1948).

- 9 consecutive days without snow in the Houghton area after only 3 snow-free days between 12/1 and 1/14.

Guessing that's down in town at the lake front. NWS is on high ground inland and always has a ton more snow.

Models are now hinting at a bit colder than normal for next week. Perhaps not getting outta the 20s for highs for a change and lows in the teens. Now, that is more of a typical January to say the least.

I remember that storm as if it was yesterday. Beautifully defined and also provided me with tons of snow. You probably received more with the enhancement off the lake. Hopefully, we can get another one soon. :)

We are now back in Grand Rapids after going on a 8 day cruise. We drove down so it was a nice long 12 days in the warmth of the south. And yes we had a lot of rain on both the trip down and back. We took an eastern route there and back so missed on the big tornadoes but did have a big wind storm in Savannah, GA on the way back.  Right now here IMBY I have clouds and a temperature of 42°  For anyone who is missing the snow here is the web cams from the UP of Michigan

Welcome back to da Mitt!  Just in time for winter's return too.

Couple runs/maps showing the LES adding up for us through Sunday. Let's see how it goes. KBUF is pretty bullish like GRR and have analog events to back it up fwiw. I like their talk of good moisture and cold temps @ 700mb.

Currently cloudy and it seems a tad colder under dry conditions. A few rainshowers on and off.
