As of hour 144 the northern and southern parts of the block look closer to merging than they did at similar times on the 18z and 12z.

I dunno... looks about right ... Much like other evolutions this winter so I have to say it is about what I would expect. Bummer!

The GEM moved away from earlier greatness. Ugh... this winter has just been frustrating. Time to go to Hawaii or something

As expected the GEM takes a step towards the GFS. Nothing about the GEM pattern progression made sense in relation to the other models. Also rips the guts out of next weeks "trough."

Of course we could easily have a transitory trough in March or even early April that tops this...I wonder the last cold season that was this completely lacking in cold troughing... Seems like even 2014-15 had a couple colder airmasses, the November one, and then the one right around New Year's.

Yeah... The mid range progression of the GEM always looked weird to me though. The long range now shows almost no blocking. Strange run.
