February Weather in the Pacific Northwest

Yup.  March 1989 was a thing of beauty.  Widespread 8 to 12 inch accumulations.

On March 1st 1989, the snow was supposed to quickly turn to rain but never did.  It was my Freshman year at Highline High and I would call Harry Wappler's weather line at KIRO News in-between classes in the school office eagerly awaiting for his updates. It was music to my ears after he admitted his forecast busted and the snow would continue through the night. The snow started sticking to the roads in the late afternoon leaving twelve inches behind the following morning.  Great event!

Up to 27.6. The little bit of wind out there is helping to mix the atmosphere just a bit and warm it up despite the cloud cover. Watching the dew point leveling off at around 21 right now.

RGEM thru late tomorrow. A model that actually could verify based on the fact that it usually one of the colder ones.

So true! As I found out last weekend you can only rely on the models so much. None showed me getting 13” in fact some showed me getting nothing.

Did any other locations near you top that amount?

Looks like dead of winter out there.  Still have areas of snow left, the grass has turned kind of gray, 26 degrees, and a slate gray sky, with dead calm winds.

Im pretty sure Mooseman lives in some type of dimensional distortion that allows him to get more snow than any other location.

I think he did the research on what areas in western Snohomish County get the most snow and he picked a house that was within the top snowfall areas.

I've noticed the grass has dulled out in color as well. The daffodils that bloomed were looking pretty sad and droopy yesterday morning.

Moisture is already coming around the south end of the Olympics.  The trajectory is what is progged for the 850mb level.  That is supposed to become more WSW later today.  I think we are going to score.

Wouldn't be shocked. My Calla Lilies started growing, but now those new shoots have bit the dust.

Noticed some flowering trees that came out early down the hill, had dropped there blooms when it first got cold.

This area does well with many pscz...we are looking at places up near the Skagit/Snohomish border to get away from the Smokey Point area but it doesn’t quite do as well many times though in 2008 they actually got more than we did, about 40” as apposed to 34” at home so not all hope will be lost.

Temp has risen about 10 degrees in the past two hours... now sitting at 30 with a dp of 21.

Almost always happens in these situations. Shouldn't shock anyone. As long as DPs remain well below freezing and temps don't get higher than 35-36, you should be good to start as snow.

Not possible.

Very unlikely.   They are tough.   I know in MN they can bloom and then it can get down to the single digits and they still keep blooming when it warms up again.

I post this to support others.    I can also want it to turn drier and warmer in the future while still supporting others and their interests in cold and snow right now.

NWS Portland says dusting to 2 inches for PDX Metro tonight. I haven't really payed attention to the models lately since I had to go back to work and it's been busy but I'll take their word for it. Looks like light snow develops this afternoon with the heavier stuff after 6pm. Looks like the evening commute might not be affected but if it arrives earlier it could.

This looks reasonable. About 3-4" here. NWS is calling for 5-10" which seems way overblown  Unless we get a bunch of snow between 4a-10a, because after that precip tapers off quite a bit.
