February Weather in the Pacific Northwest

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the 3km NAM nailed the CZ scenario today just like it nailed the zero snow we got on Friday night.

Hopefully the past week will put to bed those "It's just the NAM and it totally sux lolz" posts.

3km NAM doesn't show the convergence zone getting into the metro unfortunately.

CZ really reorganizing over North Seattle

Keep it going! Still snowing pretty good here. Down to 34.0 with a 30 dew point.

The stakes are high with this C-Zone.  It's really getting it's act together now.  Slowly sagging south.

Really nice area of snow coming down the Strait that is probably going to energize the CZ even more.

Hoping it hangs out across the area for a bit though.  ;)

The models were off on the timing of the zone. They had it fading at the time it's just getting good.  Huge advantage since we have colder air now.  Maybe all of King County can get in on it, but I'm still far from sure on that.  Nice to know the Zone is still too complicated for the models to resolve accurately.  I like to know surprises are still possible.

Just moved to a new place and it has the perfect view for CZ watching. I can see a very defined wall of precipitation slowly sagging south through Greenlake and Roosevelt right now.

Amazing view of the zone from 15 miles South of Bremerton. Pics dont do it justice.

I was thinking the same thing. Just came home on I-5N and it was gorgeous. I love when the convergence is so well defined and visible from afar like today.

Man this thing is really blowing up. Dumping here right now.

Tons of new returns firing up to the west over the sound and Kitsap peninsula as well. This could get pretty good for some people here.

The flow becomes progressively more NW as the evening wears on.  The million dollar question for my area is can the zone hold on long enough.  It'd down to I-90 in Seattle now.

It's not down to I-90. The sun is shining in SLU right now. I can pretty clearly see a wall of precipitation cutting through Wallingford to the U District, currently.

Ya definitely large hail coming down here in north seattle with some snow mixed in.  Yard and streets are covered.  Hail size is about 1/2" in size, some of the biggest I have seen around here.

Wow!

Another heavy burst of snow here, these showers moving in are intense, if only one could last longer than 5 minutes. I figure after dark if a decent one comes through an inch of snow is not out of the question tonight.

I noticed the radar is showing a shower in your area (an area that doesn't normally get picked up on the Seattle radar).  Must be pretty high topped.

That blob coming down the Strait could make the game very interesting in a little bit.
