April 18th-19th Snowstorm

I'm not sure why the NWS always holds on to warnings and advisories so long after they clearly should be removed.  So it's a blown forecast, ok admit it and move on.  Don't linger warnings out all day so that the people who don't know better think more is on the way.

Ringsted, IA not far from the MN border in NC Iowa, is reporting 7" of snow.  Ringsted also was the big winner last weekend in IA with 14".  So they are at 21" an counting in the past 5 days.

LOL, DVN is now EXTENDING the winter weather advisory and warnings until 1:00am.  What am i missing here?  This map is basically the DVN viewing area.  Nothing to come from the south or west, so I don't know where this precip is expected to develop from.

DVN should not have issued a warning for the row of counties through Cedar Rapids in the first place.  Keeping it in effect is silly.  The HRRR says light snow will fill in this afternoon, but warnings are not supposed to be issued for a few slick spots.

looks like this band rotating through could drop an inch or two for north of Highway 30.  I guess that warrants a winter storm warning... meanwhile other storms drop 4" and no headlines issued.  Silly NWS.

Radar shows better returns passing just north of me.  I still only have a dusting.  You have a nice band moving in.

I just got home. Only bout 2" otg. Bigtime melting/compaction going on. Impossible to get an accurate total. Id say 3-4 prolly safe bet. Those 11-12 totals up north would have been here if yesterday's guidance would have panned out.

EURO was way off, even with the 0z run last night and precipitation on radar. It had me getting 4-5 inches and all i saw was a few snow showers lol.

The light snow had trouble accumulating here this afternoon.  The grass whitened up just a bit, but it's gone now.  I thought I would have to record 0.0", but I just checked my white snow board and it has a half inch on it.

Yeah even down here we have some ditch water. Always the concern with late season snow. No one wants a pond in their basement.

I'm not going to measure it, but maybe 3-3.5"
