As long as it’s raining in western Snohomish county before 11am I will be happy.

Been raining for the last hour. No boat ride for you now.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

But it’s also forecasting a warm winter over Greenland and NE-Canada with a -NAO at times.

Somehow I don’t think that will happen.

Very frontloaded but not dull.

December is the coldest month relative to average in the Northwest. November is unstable and amplified. Then it flips around the Holidays again. January is warm. February is a .

Good update... I thought you were saying the ECMWF weeklies were out.   The most recent version of that is warm for us after next week.   Which could set the stage for a colder November and December.    I love front-loaded winters.

Going to be a long 8 weeks of winter!   Then maybe daffodils in January and cherry blossoms a couple weeks later.   And maybe no crash in February this time around.      ;)

The NATL Ferrel Cell/Hadley Cell descending branch has been migrating slowly poleward since 2013. Shows up well on the spatial SSTA charts.

We are just 12 weeks away from the first signs of spring. These trees better lose their leaves soon! :)

Dipped to 41 before the clouds rolled in, now it's spitting rain drops and 46.

Might see some flakes flying at Stevens Pass again today. Currently 34 with inbound moisture.

Since when does spring start on on New Years?

And lol, it’s as green as July here still. Minus a few isolated bare trees that have succumbed to fungus, it might as well be summer. Not even the slightest hint of fall color.

This was last January...  :)

How far along is the fall foliage out there, relative to average?

I went for a run down the Potomac-C&O canal towpath earlier, and I saw maybe one yellow leaf. Just a wall of green. This is very bizarre.

Watching the Supreme Court protests and the trees look really green in the background.    I was thinking yesterday that it still looks like summer in DC.

Shaping up to be a decent year. Things seem a little ahead of schedule at the moment. There are a lot of deciduous trees dying from the drought which is throwing things off a bit, though.

Probably way ahead in Oregon due to drought.

Up here... its still pretty green.   Probably on schedule here for a late October peak.

This was from Wednesday here...

The early spring last year was bittersweet though since the cold in the second half of February through the first few days of April really stopped everything in its tracks and it felt like we actually went backwards.

The timing of the full leaf out ended up being about normal or maybe a little late due to the cold and snow in late winter and early spring.

In 2015 and 2016... we had very early signs of spring and then it all progressed quickly from there.     Early April of 2016 looked like mid summer here.     That was probably a record for early spring here... don't expect that again but maybe we will have some muted version of that in 2019.   ;)

Looks like total devastation.   What an ugly scene.   Are there any trees still alive down there??
