Had snow this morning again but no sticking.

Mesoscale models kind of nailed this snowy period this morning.

Looks like Burns, OR picked up 6-8" of snow overnight. Then they actually turned to rain for about an hour this morning and bumped to 37. Now down to 34 with west winds gusting to 40mph.

Really some astonishing trends this past month. As soon as that V-Day trough started locking in on the models, it became apparent this would be the real deal.

School district here has had just a single 1-hour delay since Valentines Day... and that was not even necessary as the roads were just wet that morning even up here.

In that period my daughter has had 9 snow days (including 6 in a row at one point.), 3 2-hr delays, and one early release.

The impact on daily life has been close to nothing up here... very different than in 2019.   Slight differences in the overall pattern made for a world of difference in my area.

Yeah, it has been interesting. Really one of the great runs of the last 12 years up here. Just over 49" since February 13th, measurable snow on 16 days in that span. Five distinct upper level troughs.

Hard to say how much has actually fallen because most of the snow events started melting quickly... maybe 4 or 5 inches here in that span.

I remember some ECMWF runs earlier this week that showed the low moving inland just to the north of the Seattle area with a band of heavy snow that looked convective over King County this morning.    I am assuming that is the feature that actually ended up over Eugene.

Rain showers and 42.3˚F.

I have lost count of how many times since the month turned that Oregon lowlands and coastal areas have received snow while it has trouble dropping below 40˚F IMBY.

Thunder during thundersnow events often sounds weird, because the falling flakes muffle it and modify its sound.

Had thundersnow IMBY last December and the first clap of it sounded so odd I was not even sure if it was thunder at first. Sounded sort of like a snow plow going down a nearby arterial and scraping its blade on the pavement. I had to get on social media and verify others not in my immediate vicinity had heard it to confirm that it was, in fact, thunder.
