Big uptick for the Hood Canal on Friday night and Saturday on the 18Z GFS compared to its 12Z run.

That hood canal snow event is a pretty cool looking setup.  Dumping snow there and nearly dry on the opposite side of the sound. 
 

18z upped the snow chances quite a bit for my area over the next few days.

The set up doesn't happen to often but when it does and just right it can be some of our biggest events,

Most of the property is on north facing slopes so it gets really hard to get any meaningful sun between November and February. But about now it just gets spectacular and really hard for any snow or ice to stick around. On the most shaded parts near the house it’s at least two feet.

Radar is looking pretty fun up toward the Salmon Creek area, nice squall line type feature. 

Sunbreaks and 44 here after a low of 39.

Dumping hail here now, ground is turning white.

Crazy weather in Kelowna, went indoors to talk to a friend around 12:45 it was Sunny and 45F, came outside at 1:30 and the skies were dark felt like 35F, as I began walking this crazy gust of wind came and everyone ran into the library and then it started hailing. It was so heavy and only lasted less than a minute. I then continued my walk to my dorm and it started snowing. At this point I was fascinated by what was going on so I called my mom lol. Another large gust of wind and then thunder. You could see to the East it was clear skies and straight above it was dark. The clouds were moving very fast and behind them to the West I could see a clearing again. I'm not sure exactly what it was but it got everyone taking photos and calling friends. It is now sunny again.

Hood canal through the sw interior should have a winter storm watch posted. This might be the biggest event for snow totals the canal has had this winter. This type of pattern can dump 1-2 feet of snow if the moisture is available and the upslope is strong.

Dark clouds building here now. Really nice segway from a mid-winter style snowstorm/arctic intrusion to early spring cold core convection season this past week.

ECMWF actually showed some accumulating snow in your area and westward back to Lynnwood through 6 p.m. this evening.    And that same area eventually migrates up to Randy later tonight.

Just had a decent hail shower move through here. Dropped the temp to 40.

Nws forecast for hood canal Friday night. Lows in the 30's, southeast wind to 30mph, snow level 1000ft and no accumulations.  WRONG AGAIN!!!! I would bet there lead forecaster  there will be moderate to heavy snow accumulations out there down to near sea level. I'm thinking there will be snow falling a bunch of other areas as well in the lowlands.
