Don’t want to get mutilated by the rain misers again. It depends on the season. High elevation rain that melts the snowpack is pretty much useless this time of year or really any part of meteorological winter, since the reservoirs will simply be emptied for flood control. In mid/late spring, it is fine because they are trying to refill the reservoirs.

I've also seen large ponds form on top of the snow when it became fully saturated. Looks pretty cool actually, but it has ruined a couple of snowmobile outings.

Don’t want to get mutilated by the rain misers again.February 1996 and December 1964, two of the most prolific floods down here in modern times, were taken to such a level by the combination of the heavy rains and melt off of low level snow pack. 1996 in particular had a pretty insane amount of snow at foothill elevations after a good run since mid January. I think I remember seeing a number of 10-15 inches of liquid equivalent from the melting snow in the higher elevations of the coast range. 1 Quote My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.
