2 back-to-back lows in the 50's here!

I think this August went out on a cooler note than it did last year. Even though this summer was a tad warmer. The heat returns very soon but I did enjoy these false Fall days. It felt like the end of September.

I follow a facebook group based in Phoenix and sounds like its been a tough go at any t'storms this year for them.

They’ve had it good the past couple summers…nature has to balance herself out.  I’m sure they’ll make it up this autumn and winter again!

47 here this am. Felt great!  Actually  could of used another  blanket!  Unfortunately  16 straight  days of basically  zero rain. After the  rain deficits since mid April and the 100s last week this is becoming  a dire situation  in my area. But I have had 20 inches of precip in 2023.. I hear Cedar Rapids  has only had  14"?  Possibly  2nd driest  year  in history..  I used to blame  Iowa drought on the extreme  dry on west coast.  Throw that out the window. Iowa is the new south dakota.  Crazy deficits  for over a decade  now. With a few wet periods.  Of course I will NEVER FORGET THE NATIONAL  GEOGRAPHIC  IDIOT  who said in a report that climate change is causing  Iowa to float  after the mo and miss river floods and  that  could lead to world starvation!!! THAT GUY COULDN'T  HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!    Most of Iowa in constant  drought since I saw that.  With modern crop genetics  crops still decent.

So we finished August with our 3rd below normal month in the last 4 months. The maximum temperature we recorded here in East Nantmeal during the month of August was only 83.1 degrees on the 15th. This is the lowest maximum temp for the month of August ever recorded in Chester County. The old low max record was the 84 degree max from August 1927!
Here in Chester County we finished the summer months of June through August as the 13th coldest summer (70.3) since records began 130 years ago. If we look at the 4 warm months of May thru August we finished as the 8th coldest (67.3) 4-month spring/summer stretch since 1894. See the table below for both rankings. Rain wise the June-August period was the 27th wettest summer with 17.13" of rain.
I will be sure to post the stats for the other long running NWS COOP Chester County sites across the county later today.
As cool as it has been this summer...we are about to finally get a taste of summer now that we are starting the first month of autumn. We should see widespread 90+ temps from Monday through Wednesday before we cool down to closer to normal levels by next weekend.

All historical weather data analytics posted by me is specifically for the climate of Chester County PA.  We continually analyze the actual raw non-adjusted NWS certified Coop observed climate data for Chester County.  There have been no post observation adjustments to any of the detailed analytics. All data is sourced from trained NWS observers and spotters. The life blood of science is to challenge what is thought to be known. The concept that climate change etc. is somehow “settled science” describes a religion - a belief system that does not welcome challenges. We should all continue to challenge science!    Snow Totals 2023/24 = 24.5" -  11/28 (0.3") / 12/7 (0.8") / 12/11 (0.8") / 1/6 (2.0") / 1/16 (2.8") / 1/19 (4.5") / 2/13 (10.5") / 2/17 (2.8")

Average Chester County PA Snow at elevations over 660 FT ASL (1983-Present) = 35.9" Snow totals by season: 2022/23 (2.7") /2021/22 (20.5")  2020/21 snow  (52.2") /  2019/20 snow (5.8" )/ 2018/19 snow (35.1" )/ 2017/18 snow (58.5") / 2016/17 snow (24.0")/ 2015/16 snow (40.8")/ 2014/15 snow = (55.3") /2013/14 snow (80.0").
