I do wish they'd invest in making the pedestrian street more of a woonerf-style, instead of it clearly having been a 2 way road through the heart for the last 40 years. Why pedestrianize it if you're not going to make it feel more pedestrian friendly? Just feels like I'm walking in a road when I'm there. Any ideas @Brian_in_Leavenworth

There has been talk about doing just that, and they've done surveys.  Getting rid of the curb by raising the road to curb level and making it more aesthetically pleasing will hopefully happen. And also talk about moving the gazebo to be more in the street so it's more centered and people could gather all around instead of just in front.   That would also give more room for sledders on the hill.

But bureaucracy is pretty slow unfortunately.

Just woke up to use the bathroom and looked at the radar. Now that's a lot of heavy rain 😳 I also looked at my weather station and it looks like the winds are picking up. I had a wind gust of 15.5 mph. Not much but it's something...lol. They probably get stronger when the front comes through.

Just about 10" on the ground.  2-3 from the day yesterday and the rest from overnight.  Still snowing.

The WRF nailed it. Thank you cliff mass you amazing husky weather savant.

I have found for here at least that the WRF and the 1 1/2 version especially are quite good with snow amounts.  Also the WRF ensemble mean is really good too.  I often use that instead of the NWS forecast.

NWS did say that some models were showing 2" and others 20".  Differences are when it turns over to rain.  So a real forecast dilemma.  Well see what the final totals are.

The intense rainfall woke me up a little after 4am, was just pounding on the roof.
.25” so far on the day, 1.06” for the month.
40 degrees and mostly cloudy at the moment.

Really glad to see Snoqualmie Pass did not switch over last night.  That is often the case when we have really strong wind here. Now have to hope the warm period with the AR event moves through quickly.

I've had 0.76" of rain since midnight. I drove to Beaverton but it wasn't a fun drive. I made the executive decision to get off the freeway at Lloyd Center because of to much standing water. I drove up Burnside but that was a not really fun either. The rain is letting up for now but I expect it will pick up later.

Last I checked SLE had only had about a tenth of an inch, but it’s been absolutely pouring up here.

Wow... its dumping there.    I know they have radar coverage issues over there but it doesn't look like it would be snowing that hard.  That must be the eastern side of the c-zone.   Impressive.

Had .5 today to add to my .10 total. While I was measuring the snow I got a call from a paramedic and my wife who spun out due to some ice or snow on Alpowa Summit although the road was clear when I drove out there. They went right around the time that late morning/early PM band went right throug SE WA and slammed into a car and the rail. Her and my MIl are in the hospital in Lewiston tonight. I'm home with my son who is thrilled that I'm letting him play SIMS tonight. MIL has a severed spinal cord and paralyzed and is being flown to Boise. My wife may get flown elsewhere with ankle and bone injuries. She has it rough but better.

On a weather note the winds are picking up before tomorrow's windstorm and the snow has become rain.

I’m so sorry man, that’s messed up. Sending thoughts and prayers.

Interesting. December has been stable or even cooled slightly in the PNW in the post WWII era, while January has warmed more than any other month.

I missed this last night.   How truly horrible.    Will be thinking of you and hoping for the best.

+4.5 for North America is really shocking.  Not sure why the NW has been so different.

Real SSW beginning D11-16 on the 12z GFS.

There have been some hints of that on other long range models as well.
