Fun fact, in modern US history, more people have been killed by sheep than by wolves.

18z GFS looks Jesse-tastic.

Gives me a decent snowstorm next week, maybe 8-12". Would be enough to bring our season total above average, which would be pretty surprising considering it's a strong el nino. Won't be here for it though, will be in Wyoming/Utah.

They were probably just wolves in sheep's clothing

65/38 day here with a chilly start, brief morning clouds then afternoon sunshine. Beautiful day and a great Easter with family. Looks like the usual suspects were inside posting all day while I suffered through a sunny Easter 😂

If you want to worship Satan than we should send you to hell to be with him.

I'm in charge of the AC down there.  I'll buy you a beer when you arrive.  Cheers

Twas a beautiful Easter... perfect day with some high clouds towards sunset.

I feel sorry for a couple people on here who were hunkered down inside and too miserable to be outside.  :(

I see the Euro has still not hopped on Tim's "next warm up right around the corner". Or the GFS.

It will warm up after it cools down.   I guarantee it.  👍

I see today’s preference battle is God vs Satan. Gotta say I did not see that one coming.

Satan = ridging. God = troughing.

Last time we had back to back nights with thunderstorms in March was 2010. Noticing a lot of similarities to that year, though timing shifted a few weeks.

I’m legit considering road tripping to interior New England to catch that blizzard 4/3-4/4. The 12z Euro is litty-titty…30” of paste in 24hrs. Then drive down to OH or W-NY for the eclipse.

I’m 90% sure my better half will immediately shoot down the idea, though. :(

DO IT! LIVE YOUR LIFE WHILE YOU STILL CAN!! Always pick snow before a hoe!! SNOW IS COMING, AND YOU WONT BE!!

(I'm sure she's a nice lady, i dont know her, so don't take this seriously)

25 currently, 14/50 day. Partly Cloudy skies kept the high temp a little cool, it'll probably get warmer tommorow.

00z gfs sucked, but the GEM was decent. Trended a little better for Texas, and was clear for Illinois/Missouri which is really all I ask for at this point. I've given up all hope on seeing the eclipse in Texas, although there is a chance I'll be happily surprised by a change of forecast.

That was a lovely late spring and summer out here. Had a warmer than average Feb/March as well, like this year.

The global SSTA match with 2010 borders on spooky. Far and away the closest fit, with 1973 the runner-up.

Also the descending NE-Canada block fits the 2010 progression. As does the descending +QBO with -PMM/+AMM.

Below are SSTAs in 2024 (top) and 2010 (bottom) with global anomaly adjusted to zero. Crazy homogeneity.

Ended up getting another freeze this morning barely with a low of 32. Brings the freeze total up to 50. Pretty good considering it was a strong Nino. I’ve recorded a freeze every month since October. Might be a chance I get one in April.

Can see the influence of the SW monsoon, and GOM SSTs/Bermuda High clearly in those averages.

FWIW the reason high temps begin to decline here in mid/late July is because humidity is increasing. Dews can peak a month later than temps in strong BH summers.

It’s wild that all the areas that have a summer peak after the first week of August are located on the Coast. The Washington and Oregon Coast along with the California Coast, Texas, Louisiana and South Florida all peak the latest.
