GooFuS totally thrown under the bus by APX Low confidence forecast for the mid week storm system due to the combination of marginal low level thermal profiles in addition to the sensitivity of sfc low placement and intensity. Some deterministic guidance (which really was the previous runs, more recent 00Z guidance shifts the accumulating snow generally south/southeast) suggests an area of minor to modest snow accumulations possible, but that seems like the 90th+ percentile of some of the associated ensemble guidance. Most guidance and ENS show some pretty minor snow accumulations for interior portions of northern lower, or at least the possibility. Due to the sensitivity of the situation, and until that changes, best to err on the side of caution at this time. Especially since some of the potential could, in theory, end up being due to mesoscale phenomena/dynamic cooling processes. All this to say, current fcst calls for snow showers mixing in with the rain showers with this system Wednesday night into portions of Thursday (especially across the elevated terrain) as the sfc low spins somewhere to the east of the fcst area. It`s sad, but the GFS may very well be an embarrassingly bad model, but hey we`ll give it a chance and see if it`s on to something in the coming days. Most if not all of the GFS ensembles are much less bullish than the parent though. Nevertheless, leaning towards a solution at least somewhat similar to the CMC & ECMWF at this point in time

With 2016, 2008, and 1990 being among the top analogs, hard not to be bullish on December. There's still 1966 and 1980 out there...but those years had already started to turn warm West/cool East by this point in the season - and that carried through December. Looking like that won't be the case this year.
