Second, I’ve seen dry cycling patterns turn wet and wet cycling patterns turn dry. Last year we ended up having a wet fall(above average). So, Lezak predicted above average moisture for the winter season. We ended up drier than average. The cycling warm pattern that same fall, turned to below average temps for the winter and I believe spring. Spring was also drier than normal. This pattern is certainly stubborn and it’s bad for us winter enthusiasts. BUT, things do and can change. Nobody on earth could have predicted a 3-5 inch snow on Dec. 1st in KC followed by 60 days(if we make it to Jan. 30th without snow) without snow. In the dead of winter!!! That like impossible, right?? I’m just going to look at the 18z GFS from yesterday and just keep doing that for several days. LOL

Unless all the models are on crack, Chicago should be back to near average in about a week. 20 there currently, which is below normal.
