Dang! I'm game for this, but it would cause me to go into scramble mode to save a lot of vegetation in the yard. Interesting times.

BTW, what is MSP sitting at in terms of snowfall for the season?

MSP is officially at 32" for the season.....22.1" below normal and about 5" less than last year. The trend over the last 3 years is not good.

Wow, that is brutal!  The last 2 years are probably a "hickup" in the pattern as far as the cold season goes.  I think it's a matter of time before we start seeing some good winters stack up.

Although, this map has trended the other way Jaster!  Looking chilly over the next 2 weeks with possible Frost/Freeze in the region.

Tom, what'd I miss on this? Map says 4/26 - 4/30. Later maps may be different, but my local for Marshall still looks like April during that stretch. Certainly not snow, and not really what I'd call "cold" per se..shrugs shoulders..  (fyp - later maps may NOT meet with my app'l ;))

Today and tomorrow look great!  Your lucky to squeeze out some warmer days to close out the month.  Folks from Chitown on westward not so much.  Storm track is favorable for you to be in the warm sector.  Not sure if that holds heading into May.

Those are the type of days you def need to soak it all in!  I'm sure it's Spring Fever in St. Joe!  Btw, that place is on my bucket list.  Hopefully this summer.

I don't have any plans on coming back home anytime soon. The weather out hear has been stunning.  It hasn't been to hot which I'm glad but I think that changes in the Week 1-2 range as a big ridge may fire up and usher in our first 100's of the season.

I picked up a surprise 0.50" of rain overnight, boosting my system total to 0.74".  Models never had a particularly good handle on this system for my area.

season snowfall: 10.1"

'16-17: 17.9"      '15-16: 20.0"      '14-15: 30.4"      '13-14: 48.3"      '12-13: 34.1"

Average snowfall: ~30"

Reports of snow flurries in E IA this morning.

Let's see if this year is another very short period between the Last Flake of Snow vs next seasons First Flake of Snow.  Wasn't there some record short period set in 2013 in the Midwest in terms of Last Flake vs First Flake of the following season???

Starting to look pretty bad for my neighborhood. I'm glad the drought is over but when it rains it literally pours I guess. Lol. I'm also really glad the long term repeating ridging over my area is giving away nicely in the very early part of the warm season. I think this summer is going to be just fine for me.

Yeah, nice wx can really make a huge difference on the "3rd Coast", hopefully you'll scout a good time to check it out. Early September has some of the nicest late summer days, but after Labor Day, the summer vacation flavor is waning, so it gets pretty quiet at the tourist areas. But, I honeymooned in Chicago in July of 2009 and Skilling's forecast for that Saturday was sunny and 80º two days before. Ended up it was 55º and strato-rain all afternoon! Ofc, we've come a long ways in verification accuracy since way back then.. ;)

You'll just have to roll the dice.. :P

I started a thread for this weekend's storm, just because there might, and I emphasize might, be some decent snows out of this for someone.

The clouds held off a bit longer than expected last night and allowed us to fall to 33 or 34.  More rain is about to move in... expecting about 0.20" from this initial disturbance.

season snowfall: 10.1"

Top-10 (& top shelf) April ftw! :D  Now that's how April's done in my book anyways.  I know 1907 was known in the UP as "the backwards spring" with snow OTG well into May. Um, no thanks.

Edit: I see from GRR's April round-up that Lansing just up the road from Marshall had their 2nd warmest April ever and their records go way back to like 1860 so it's safe to say that Marshall just had about as good an April as we could ever expect around these parts. 2010 was great as well, they both deserve a standing ovation in my book! :D
