Really interesting to look at http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/ 

 

and observe at the temp reading from the higher elevation areas. You can quite clearly see the warm air advection taking place aloft, especially in areas south. Looks like there is some warming above on the east side of town. West side seems pretty cold for now.

I'm doing some work in my classroom and have an extremely light flurry of snow falling. Looks like it might pick up a bit in the next hour or so.

 

EDIT: Legitimate flurry now. The flakes are so light and dry that they are swirling all over the place. Really pretty.

Just flurries here... occasional light snow.   Sky is pretty bright and there is no visibility restriction.

Moderate snow now... Picking up with much bigger flakes. Still warming quick though.

Everyone gets in on it but Mossman and myself. Not complaining,we do have heavy frost.

There is no doubt that band will envelop the Portland area in a couple hours.    Hope its not all freezing rain.

The ECMWF ensemble control model agrees with another cold snap late this week.  Might be a respectable January shaping up.

I'm dying to see what the main precip is going to bring to areas of here.  It will probably be a preview for areas further north.  Pretty fascinating how you can see moisture between the ULL over WA and the low off of California merging.

That is a pretty decent deformation band. If it is all snow for anyone it could drop a couple inches easily. Unfortunately I think it is going to be a lot of ZR and sleet, but I could be wrong.
