As this will be a several day event I have posted this in both the December discussion and here

Here just NW of Grand Rapids, Michigan we had a short but very intense snow shower late last night. Here at my house I recorded 3.5” in just over one hour.  And now have 4.5” on the ground (there is still some melting from the warm ground) that 4.5” is on the grass on the road and drive way there is about 2” with some ice and slush. The temperature here is now at 28°

You say a foot on tv  its ballsy in this set up.  Where fronto bands set up is extremely tough to pin down

I clearly state that he said that some places will end up with that much snow, so, wherever the band sets up, then, you get slam. He did not specifically mentioned places in and around the area.

Ever so slightly, I agree. But, also dragging in some warmer air too each run.  That R/S line creeps into S. IA and even somewhat close to Chicago.   Even if some don't switch over, that's going to bring the snow ratios closer to 10:1, a wetter snow cutting back on totals.  UGH

Love a 10:1 snow, especially as a foundation for a glacier, that's the best. When I had snow sleds I always hoped for that first big storm to lay down a heavy 8+ as a base for the trails. Fluff stuff just doesn't have the staying power. Ofc, we're fighting ground that never chilled off over here in MI as well.

Yep this board seems to be much more popular than another.

We have a MUCH more positive Mod who isn't full of himself. That's the main reason as I see things.

When it's clearly our turn for a storm Chicago comes in like:

ROFLMAO funny!!  How you keep your humor in the face of the cards you've been dealt I don't know, but glad that you can!

Niko! What a way to start that'd be, eh?? Good Luck over there!  :D

@ Jaster, I appreciate the compliment. Many thanks. I'll admit, when I first started posting in this forum a few years ago I was overly confident and at times, hard headed. Since then, I have grown and matured and veered away from that. I am grateful for all of you.

I don't pay any attention to the other boards. From what I hear, American Wx is another one? What is it like on there?

some really smart people but not as many posters as before.  and if you make weenie posts they get all upset.  there used to be more midwest mets that posted, still a couple i think. More free to say whatever the hell you want here.  which is refreshing

Strangely enough, getting missed by every storm has taught me to just appreciate when it does happen, versus getting overly disappointed when it doesn't. Yeah, it IS the most awful thing in the world when it's 6 degrees and bare ground, but there is much more to life then getting upset about snow. Now I just treat it as a surprise gift, versus an expectation.

Yeah. I used to like it there. I still visit periodically because they're the only ones I've found with a more region centric thread for me (OK/AR/KS/MO) but it's only like 5 people in there now and if nothing is going on, it gets boring in a hurry. I've been kicked off there like 3 times because I don't have much of a filter when it comes to political BS. Lol. I'm glad the crybabies took their political thread off.

This. I don't post much anymore there for reasons you just stated. It's a rougher crowd at times.
