The loop is what we’ve been missing all along. Low sliding down the coast and looping inland somewhere in central/south wa...

 

Yup...this is kind of like the cold outbreaks of 2013-14.  I have no idea what is preventing a classic 1950s type block from developing.  The details are just wrong.

For here 2007 - 2012 was really on the right track and then it just went to snow wise.  No doubt from a cold outbreak perspective we are worlds better than 1999 - 2006.  That period was nightmarish.

As of today SEA is now running below normal for Feb.  Nearly 0.5 below in fact.  Got to love those double digit minus departures.  Hard to believe we still have a good two days of solid cold left before it moderates a tad.

21 degrees and crystal clear at my place in Battle Ground.  I ended up with about 4" total for the day yesterday with 1.5" in the morning and 2.5" from the steady snow last night.

 

EDIT: Sadly in the 8 February's I have lived out here in Battle Ground, it's never even been below 30 on this date...low hanging fruit!

NWS Seattle is going for the NAM solution that brings light snow into the interior this evening over the GFS solution that keeps it all on the coast.

 

NAM has been trending toward a slightly wetter system so hopefully, if everything lines up right (which is seemingly a lot to ask), we can get an inch out of this thing. Maybe even a sporadic 2 inches here and there.

 

Another day/night of watching the radar.

 

The NAM long a joke, has absolutely nailed the last two systems. February 2018 is its redemption tour.
