July 2018 Weather in the Pacific Northwest

Recommended Posts

Still 80 in Springfield. Might not get below 70.

Going to be some fairly chilly nights starting Wednesday.

The type of pattern in which the temp drops quickly after sunset.

A lot of things kill. Hot (or cold) weather is pretty far down the list, to be quite honest.

That’s irrelevant to the point. Heat kills. It’s an uncomfortable, expensive nuisance. I never tried to list or rank it on a cause-of-death billboard.

Quit trying to start arguments all the time.

While it’s 100 degrees in Portland, OR, icebergs the size of small volcanoes continue to stream out of the Baffin Strait.

This is getting ridiculous. Apparently a portion of the village’s 169 people had to evacuate.

And before anyone tries to blame this on climate warming...it’s actually a result of historically cold conditions. More glaciers running into the sea, breaking off, colder waters to sustain the icebergs, etc.

Close to 100 again by next Monday on the Euro.

Good interpretation... Tuesday as well.     Then back down a few degrees.

Pretty amazing the GFS ensemble mean is slightly below average on the 06z run. Yet even if it verifies we'll likely see a +5 departure in that span...

By the 5-10 day period... the EPS is showing the same basic pattern that dominated much of this past winter.

Didn't Phil say there is a connection between January and July?

You aren’t setting yourself up for much in the way of sympathy the next time the shoe is on the other foot.

That would never happen anyways.

I am not complaining about the cool down either... it will be nice.

It can always get worse!

You can't get less than no sympathy... which is fine.   I don't expect it anyways.   Its irrelevant and does not change anything.

There is no sympathy then there is going out of your way to troll. That can always be ramped up. ;)

I have a lot of PMs from you that tell me otherwise. :)

Really?

I think the PMs usually go the other way when it comes to troll scolding. :)

KEUG is the Seneca of the Willamette Valley -- it will always have the coolest nights in the area. Locations with better mixing were undoubtedly in the 60s. Medford bottomed out at 70.

Medford and Eugene are pretty different locations. Most Willamette valley spots fell into the upper 50s.

PDX has really been impressing me with its enhanced UHI lately.

I left downtown Portland around 12:30a Sunday morning and it was still 84. It was 67 by the time I got to Mt. Angel 45 mins later.
