Going to stack up really nice for you guys so congrats. This should help secure the cold sector for our sub forum for the next set of snow storms the following week. Heading northI was just thinking about the headlines for the next storm. I think they’ll be out with the afternoon package. Maybe they wanted to wait to not cause confusion with the current headlines. Good luck with the chase. Snowing here but nothing crazy at the moment. Steady though. St Paul Storm
Oh my... Mesoscale discussion outSweet..... Mesoscale Discussion 0068 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0120 PM CST Tue Feb 05 2019 Areas affected...Southeast MN...Northern IA...Western WI Concerning...Heavy snow Valid 051920Z - 060015Z SUMMARY...Multiple bands of heavy snow will continue to develop and affect the discussion area this afternoon. Snowfall rates exceeding 1 inch per hour are likely in localized areas. DISCUSSION...Recent radar loop shows a developing band of moderate to heavy snow developing from Brown/Nicollet counties of south-central MN to near Eau Clair WI. Several observation sites within this band, including parts of the Minneapolis metro area, are reporting moderate snow. The expanding precipitation shield is associated with a well-defined shortwave trough moving into NE, and strengthening low-level warm advection indicated by local VAD profiles. This band is expected to slowly lift northeastward through the next several hours, but will likely be replaced by an intensifying band of heavy snow that is developing along the IA/MN border. The result will be multiple episodes of locally significant snowfall through the afternoon across the discussion area. Convective augmentation of snowfall rates is likely, although lightning strikes are uncertain.
