Once the precipitation passes, it might be a chance for valley locations to start to warmup. 

If the flow doesn't switch southerly at the surface the low levels are just going to sit under an inversion. The lookout south of Silver Falls popped to 36 when that band went through and then immediately dropped back to 31.

That is one thing my area does well with.  Seen quite a bit of ice here.  It's a bloody mess if there is too much.

This is what the ECMWF shows for OR early tomorrow morning.  Seems very aggressive with the warming though.

15f in some locations... really hard to believe. Given that its just ice coming down, which outside of being beautiful is a huge pain in the butt, I'm hoping to be surprised.

Temps are still stuck at 29 with no precip in sight. No wind. I wonder if we don't get any more precip tonight we might not mix out and can snag another subfreezing high. Probably not though.

I hit 32.7 about an hour ago. Was above freezing for about ten minutes. What a bummer. Did score a low of 15 though.

The heavy rain has stopped, the sleet has stopped but now it’s just a very light drizzle that doesn’t even show up on radar. I think this can be worse tho as it slowly glazes the trees and coats them faster than big rain drops.

One interesting thing I noticed today is the dandelion plants we have around the edge of the yard literally got freeze dried by this cold wave.  The leaves just crumbled to dust in my hand.  Pretty harsh!

Weather App says Flurries here. Either they are so small I can’t see em, or they are melting before they hit the ground (way more likely). Currently 32 here. We hit 36 today, was 19 earlier this morning.

When they crumbled were you in the middle of trying to tear the leaves off?

It happens with cold waves of this type.  In Jan 1930 your area kicked our butts to the curb.

Feels like things are a little bit more even after this event and February 2023. Not all the way but a couple decent wins for Oregon.

Same happened to my coastal strawberries — and those are a fairly hardy native plant with waxy leaves. I assume they will grow back but they are all dead on top for now.

The fact of the matter is we landed a top tier cold wave in January.  That is a huge deal.  We haven't been able to do that in forever.
