There's been bursts of moderate snow here, but it hasn't stacked up that well. Might be able to hit an inch.

Ended up with 2.5"...very pleased how it turned out actually.  In the morning it looked like this was falling apart but then managed to pump up some more moisture on the northern edge.  I think the snow ratios were 25:1 with today's snowfall.  Very powdery, but no where near as powdery as the 55:1 ratios we had yesterday.  Nice refresher to build that snow cover back up and whiten the scenery up.  I don't think I have ever seen snow so powdery as yesterdays snowfall.  That's crazy if you think about it... (.0015) fluffed up to 1.0".

Geo's, who measured the snow ratios from yesterday???

Lake Effect Snow Watch

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NORTHERN INDIANA

340 PM EST SUN JAN 19 2014

...HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW POSSIBLE MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY...

.A SIGNIFICANT SINGLE BAND OF HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW IS EXPECTED

TO DEVELOP MONDAY EVENING AND CONTINUE INTO TUESDAY ACROSS PARTS

OF NORTHWEST INDIANA AND EXTREME SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN. THERE

IS HIGH CONFIDENCE THIS BAND WILL DEVELOP AND PRODUCE SNOWFALL

AMOUNTS AS HIGH AS ONE TO TWO FEET DURING THIS PERIOD WITH A FEW

LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. HOWEVER...THE LOCATION WHERE THIS

NARROW BAND OF HEAVY SNOW WILL FALL REMAINS IN QUESTION. THEREFORE

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WATCH FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF HEAVY LAKE EFFECT

SNOW HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THOSE AREAS WHERE THIS HEAVY SNOW COULD

FALL.

VERY COLD ARCTIC AIR WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION MONDAY. LAKE EFFECT

SNOW SHOWERS WILL DEVELOP DURING THE DAY AND ARE EXPECTED TO

INTENSIFY MONDAY EVENING INTO TUESDAY. SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 3

INCHES PER HOUR WILL BE POSSIBLE WITHIN THE EXPECTED NARROW SINGLE

BAND LATE MONDAY NIGHT AND EARLY TUESDAY.

CURRENT DATA SUGGEST THE BEST CHANCE FOR THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL

WOULD BE OVER LAPORTE AND STARKE COUNTIES AND MAINLY THE EXTREME

WESTERN PORTIONS OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY INDIANA AND BERRIEN COUNTY

MICHIGAN. LESSER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE OUTSIDE OF THE WATCH AREA.

PEOPLE LIVING IN NORTHWEST INDIANA OR EXTREME SOUTHWEST BERRIEN

COUNTY IN MICHIGAN OR THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL THROUGH THE REGION

MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR FORECASTS AND

LISTEN FOR UPDATES AND WARNINGS. INTERSTATES 80...90 AND 94 WILL

BE IMPACTED SIGNIFICANTLY BY THIS SNOW ALONG WITH HIGHWAYS

421...35...30...6...2 AND 20.

LAKE EFFECT SNOW BANDS CAN BE VERY INTENSE BUT VERY NARROW AND

IMPACT LOCAL AREAS. ROADS CAN GO FROM BEING DRY TO SNOW

COVERED...SLICK AND HAZARDOUS WITHIN A MILE OR TWO. THIS CAN LEAD

TO A SUDDEN SLOW DOWN IN TRAFFIC AND INCREASE THE CHANCES FOR

CHAIN REACTION ACCIDENTS...ESPECIALLY ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS AND

INTERSTATES.
